Indeed a batchbuild of these would bring some savings!

Edit: The boiler for one of the 'small' versions is about the size of a medium / large traction engine.

The team at Llynclys are continuing with the restoration of the DMU set made up of DMCL 51512 and DMBS 51205. There are a few mechanical and electrical niggles to sort out and the usual bodywork bits.

Any help with locating sources of spare parts would be appreciated. If you fancy coming along to drink tea and eat cake this is also appreciated and you will be given a paint brush to lend a hand.

Thanks to CHR Facebook for the picture.

It's that time of the year when everything goes quiet before the mad season that is Santa Specials.

The inside jobs prevail as the outside turns cold and wet. There was even a dusting of snow!

Hardly surprising that inside jobs are preferred. Work carried on with the suburban coach and we look forward to the day when it will enter service.

There is a lot of planning going on for 2020 with plenty to be excited about. Once these events are fixed we will be able to give more details.

Fundraising continues and all donations are appreciated. The shops have on sale CHR merchandise including our 2020 calendar.

We would love to see you to share our progress and future vision, why not make a plan to call in on your way to other events?

Pictures are a bit thin on the blog this time as Guy's camera fell out of it's case and tested the strength of the shed floor. No prizes for guessing who won!

Another important day for CHR. The suburban coach breaks cover for a run to the station.

Here we see the coach paused by the signal box on it's way to the beauty parlour.

The one on my work bench at the moment is a Gauge 1 Cambrian 4-4-0. Though I think it will be a while yet before it's finished. I have a 7 1/4" petrol mechanical loco and a bogie well wagon to finish first. The picture shows the current status of the loco.

More work on site at Weston. There really is lots to do before we can complete the station. The Tuesday team were moving parts and materials around whilst also continuing to clear the site of general waste.

Tracklaying of the main line and run round loop can only start once the sidings have been completed.

A very merry Christmas to all readers of the blog and thank you for the support in 2019. 2020 is looking good and we hope to reach our new station at Weston.

The Santa Specials have now finished and the passenger numbers look very good. To think that last year at Oswestry we were using only the brake van.

Enjoy the festivities and make it a new year's resolution to come and see us ;-)

Once again a big thank you!
    Regards
    Adrian P

Looks like someone has clouted the bridge by the Hospital properly. Presume that's up to Shrophire CC To repair?

Indeed a great video. The girders supporting the bridge scared me. A head out of a window at the wrong time would be bad. Is there any way of welding some angled run in sheet?

Video superb but why ruin it with music which masks much of the dialogue and sounds of the railway? Save editing time by not using music!

We'll check again the clearance. I think the camera foreshortened the image a bit.

The video was made by a local filmmaker and is not a CHR production. We are very grateful for Chris to have made this, the objective is to appeal to a wide range of viewers to get our project known.

Thursday it was back to work at Weston. Some of the turkey fat was burned off and lots of vegetation also got burnt.

The bridge strike damage has been assessed and action is underway.

The bridge clearance is subject to a speed restriction and other mitigation activities are under review.

There will be a stream of deliveries in January as the sectional platform arrives. Work on the bases is in hand and once these have cured the platform will be assembled. This puts the track team under pressure as the points need to be finished before the platform goes up. Whilst it is possible to build the points totally by hand it's a lot easier on the back to let the JCB move the materials in to place. With the platform in place the JCB can't get close enough.

The Tuesday team continue the push, relocating materials to extend the track north.
