I wonder what will happen to the HST 125's...........they're too good to scrap, they can sill do the business on the ECML.
When the Deltics finished on the EC they found work on Trans Pennine services, I doubt we'll get a repeat of that as the 68's are coming through now..

Some will go to the MML, but I believe two are heading on a one way trip to south Wales in the next few days.

Meanwhile, UK Railtours' latest newsletter has the following:

Dai Woodhams, where they will rust away and in about 20 years time they will be rescued and lovingly restored and end up running on the Main Line and various Heritage Railways ;);)

Wouldn’t bet on it - I’ve vivid memories of an HST charter only just making it up Copy Pit one October day. Great trains, will undoubtedly be missed, but the modern equivalent of the “singles” - all set up for specific duties.

Presumably by the highest bidder for the scrap.

Booths in Rotherhan seem to do a lot of cutting of rail scrap and recently Class 312 units from Glasgow have been towed to Newport docks (from someone's Flickr - Simsgroup), the latter makes me wonder if there will be a pile of broken units to rival the Cashmores scrap pile.

Presumably WNXX is the place to look.

Nothing specific on there yet, and I’m interested to know where my daily commutes will end up. However, there does seem to be a “South Wales” flavour to the rumours that do exist.

Just had an email from UK Railtours to advise that, after some hectic trading since yesterday's announcement, all first class seats on all legs of this farewell tour are now sold out. Likewise standard class on the final final Leeds-KGX leg, but standard class still available on all other preceding legs.

For the unlucky ones, I'm sure that EMR or whoever is in charge in a couple of years time will do something similar by way of an MML farewell.

312 units from Glasgow? You mean 314 surely? 312s were slam door stock that went years ago.

Reported on WNXX as the 19:35. I think my final journey will be on the 19:06 on Friday 13th, as a farewell to my commuting on them.

Also being reported as such on other groups. Off to Leeds on the 10th and my booked train is rostered for an HST so hopefully there wonlt be a last minute substitution.
