Well done West Coast. More footplate crew needed, but considerably more power than a single Class 8 and much more adhesion to cope with nasty wet rails.

 

Took a gamble - double headed pan..

 

45562 & 46115 at Salterwath , Strickland Woods and Mealbank .

 

The pair could be heard working well before they came into view seen here at High Scales near Scout Green a marvellous sight and sound. My thanks to all at WCR for making this happen today.

I've never known the air to be so still on the UK coast! When I arrived the tide was in and there wasn't a ripple on the surface...quite erie actually.

Utter Stanier brilliance! That's the shot of the day for me, though a tough call it is with all the wonderful pictures from members today.

 

For those who are of a pedantic nature a side view shows up the fact that this is a long firebox Jubilee and not Alberta which had the earlier short firebox.

 

Nice to see the sheep eating grass...my walk over the moors this morning saw them producing next years Lamb cutlets...

Making a tremendous sight and sound and the drivers having change engines, the 'Santa Special' speeds south through Bessy Ghyll wood back to Lancaster

 

The weather may have been rubbish, but what a treat today was... LMS 5XP No.45562 'Alberta' (LMS 5XP No.45699 'Galatea' in disguise) and LMS 7P No.46115 'Scots Guardsman' double heading passed Shap Wells and Great Strickland - 24th November 2019.
