45675 was still intact at Cashmores at the beginning of December. I have a photo of it somewhere. That doesn't concur with your January date.

A number of summer extra train change engines at Holbeck Jnc on the curve missing Leeds station. The relief to the Thames Clyde Expess did this on Summer Saturdays. This train was non stop Derby to Carlisle in the public timetable.

Chocolate & cream stock would regularly find its way to Yorkshire from the West Country. However, did any trains to or from the West Country go beyond Leeds, other than reversal there for the short leg to Bradford Forster Square? These were generally hauled, as has been said, by 2-6-4T's?

I don't remember any through Leeds itself although of course there were many from the West Country and/or South Coast which went further North by other routes.

I also think not via Leeds. The Bradford Exchange to Poole via Halifax and Huddersfield might be worth a mention because it could be a Jubilee duty until fairly late on, say 66.

Further research-- at least in 1955 there was a 2015 Keighley to Paignton summer train, reporting number 422. There were also Newcastle-- Paignton and W Hartlepool --Paignton trains and Newcastle-Newquay presumably via Pontefract though.

On the last Sunday of the Glasgow Fair there was always a Bristol Jubilee passing through Kilmarnock bringing the happy holiday makers home.

I suspect the Keighley train was perhaps a portion of an evening Bradford-Paignton train. Presumably joined up at Leeds?

I ought really to buy a 1955 summer Bradshaw. That info is from the famous book Summer Saturdays in the West. There is a separate train, the 2045 from Bradford, reporting number 415. On the survey day they stopped at Newton Abbot 15 mins apart, at 0824 and 0840, both two hours late. Ten coaches each. Apologies if this is off topic from the off topic!

It's all good stuff no matter how far away from topic we wander. I too must look for a Bradshaw. Interesting that in those days a small town like Keighley could support a holiday train of it's own. To go even further off topic, I know there were specials when t'mills shut down for their annual holiday, but didn't realise there were also scheduled trains like 422. Mind you, I was 5 and presumably sound asleep when they ran!
