This was discussed previously and if I recall correctly, the new frames are in fact thicker than the original loco. 5/8 original vs 20mm new I seem to remember.

The wheels are now on site and will be fitted in the next few days. The completed chassis with axle boxes is on the lift behind. Cylinders finished and finished front and back covers present too.

The wheels will have their crank pins shrunk in and after painting in Great Eastern Blue and the chassis is turned over, it will then be a rolling chassis. Once the brake hangers and pull rods fitted, phases 2& 3 will be finished and we moee onto the motion - phase 4. It is hoped that we will have an air run chassis in the Summer. The boiler was finished last year.

Southwold Railway Trust are still looking for funding and with your help, the locomotive could be in steam this time next year https://www.southwoldrailway.co.uk/trust-projects/2-4-0t-no-3-blyth/

Blyth has been turned the right way up and moved into the position in the workshop where it will be finished.

Connecting rods and a couple rods are finished and the eccentrics and straps are on site and being processed. Running boards have been added.

The valve train together with reversing lever and Di block are currently being manufactured.

The steam power brake has been fitted and the handbrake mechanism is almost complete.

The piston/Slide bars are on site and complete and the valve mechanism is in the process of being made.

At the current rate of build, it is hoped to run the locomotive on compressed air in the autumn. The boiler that was made last year will then be added and we will start on the manufacture of the tanks and cab.

The Trust are undertaking a final push on fundraising to hopefully finish the locomotive in 2021. https://www.southwoldrailway.co.uk/trust-projects/2-4-0t-no-3-blyth/
