    Ck enters service this weekend.

Fantastic job on that CK. The Mk1 TSO that was repaired by volunteers in the last 6 weeks also reenters service this weekend. An awesome job by everyone involved.

We should have a Bullied open soon too.

I remember it well. I travelled behind Scotsman at the very enjoyable Bluebell event and she made light work of the gradients. She sounded very nice getting into her stride after the speed restrictions outside Sheffield Park.
She had traction problems at the WSR and SVR though IIRC.

The problem with 8 is that it wouldn't be able to run round - at the gala they were swapping locos at each end with the next waiting in the Meon loop at Alton.

As the SW mainline Is very busy for much of the day, I would imagine the move would take place at a time when things are quieter, at least the run as far as Guildford, so I would think late morning after the rush hour, or late evening, a night time move would depend on engineering works not getting in the way, if the move isn't publicised locally then hopefully there won't be a trespass problem or if it is, BTP are present to ensure public stay on the right side of the tracks, and on platforms

easy to sort that, shunt loco at Alton, 60103 stops in loop, runs round re attaches to country end, shunt diesel comes on, brake test, hauls train into platform detaches and waits in head shunt , till needed again and then it stays on rear on the last train, or runs L/E back to Ropley Plus it also becomes a rescue loco, if something fails in section

Well hope it goes well for everyone but £39 a ticket for a ride up and down the Mid Hants which I have done more times than I care to remember doesn't attract me!

Nice to see the Coaching Stock coming back into traffic :) Will be good to see longer trains again, also the standard of out shopped coaches are really nice

It were a more temperate day atop the hill, for once yesterday - even the sun put in an appearance, between passing trains! Then the cloud rolled in & the wind picked up...... at least it didn't rain!! :)

The day saw the usual gathering of the (fool?) hardy bunch ready to continue the battle with the Gunpowder Van...... attention was focused on the north side longitudinal beam, which is in two parts, more fettling was required to ensure it would fit round various bits protruding - this was achieved at more or less the 1st attempt! :Jawdrop: :Saywhat: Followed by a fair amount of measuring & discussion of securing the beam to the bodyside & accommodate the roof hoop struts - not helped by the fact the van was sitting on a down grade, making the beam look 'pissed'!

At least the 1st half of the beam was secured in place before the 2nd half was offered up - this going in rather quicker than the 1st. :)

In between all this a constant stream of train loads of happy family's on the Santa's kept arriving & departing with it seems the CK & TSO along for the ride running in.... that CK does look rather nice & shiny.

Oh, and amongst all this a start was made on the annual winter maintenance of oiling the brake linkage & screw couplings (where applicable) on the wagon fleet, which was cut short by the rapidly fading light.

A few pics from the day.

Which suggests perhaps that the ticket price was about right?

Just to add that two other sets behind MHR locos will be operating during these days and ticket holders will be able to ride these as much as they like. Parking will be provided at Ropley so you will need to catch a train from there to Alresford. I think it will be a cracking day out.

Any idea what the price of a non-Scotsman day rover will be?

    A couple of questions;
What happens with the passengers coming in via the ML link at Alton? Can we arrive by SWR services for this event or do all FS passengers have to drive to the car park at Ropley? I am aware the event is still at the planning stage but it is not very clear on the MHR website at the moment. I guess the security measures will be strict at the gates at Alton.
What will the cost of a non-scotsman travel ticket be for this event as we are planning on visiting on the Saturday of both weekends (photography and riding on normal services the first weekend, travelling behind FS the second weekend)?

With two other trains running it appears similar to what the Bluebell did, when you were able to take one of the other services from East Grinstead to Sheffield Park to join your trip behind Scotsman.

MHR told me it wont be open this year. I like the provision for double track.
