Why bother with a timetable ??

Train timetabled at Whalley due around 09:15 but arrived at station in time to see train pass 15 minutes early !!! Decide to go to Settle for a pan shot and spent 30 minutes in a hailstorm waiting for this :

    60103-03f.jpg

Was it worth the effort ? I leave others to judge both the quality of the image and my state of sanity.

Fred! An old photo warrior like you should know never to arrive at a phot spot with only 15 minutes to spare!

60103 battling a strong crosswind coming off Dandry Mire this morning. Had all the weathers to entertain myself with, the sun right above glaring down and threatening to scupper the shot, heavy rain and then hail, and even a snowstorm on the journey up to Garsdale! Fortunately none of them besides the wind stuck around for long and this was the result of a 04:30 start. Worth it I think, looking forward to Wednesday’s reverse run. Hope your brolly survived the battering at Plumpton. I felt the car provided better shelter until she came into view!

We have a group from the Telegraph on board today covering the tour, it is understood that the article will be published between Christmas and the New Year.
At present in Greyrigg loop and as there are problems south of Preston, we may be held here longer than planned whilst the delayed traffic passes.

No diesel assistance up Shap, mid 30s at the summit then mid 70s all the way to Carlisle, only dropping below briefly through Penrith.
