    Branch line seems to be getting later as well - was always February 10 or 15 years ago; last year it co-incided with my birthday (mid March); now early April.

    I suspect that once over these events were timed to take place during quiet times in the railway's year. Now with the increased need for ever more maintenance of our ageing infrastructure these quiet times have to be given over to track renewals and the like so of necessity it is prudent to move such events more into the main season. Now if only those pesky Santa Specials could be run in October or March....................!

    I asked the DFR facebook account about their Steam Gala dates next year and their response was Friday 16th to Sunday 18th October.

    So.. Dean Forest Railway 'Royal Forest of Steam' Gala - Friday 16th to Sunday 18th October 2020.
