Mid Hants Railway Operational Matters

A bit quiet on the trains today but there was a late surge of passengers for the 15.30 service from Alresford as this was the last round trip for 92212 on her current ticket. We had two round trips with her today and enjoyed some very lively running particularly on the final run. Lots of enthusiastic use of the whistle to say farewell to the Hampshire Alps for a while. Yes, a rather 'bittersweet' couple of hours at the railway today to see the 9F making its final few runs on the railway. I think the 9Fs are my favourite locos as I can just remember them in service on BR around south-west Birmingham and they were/are so majestic!

 

Anybody know which locos are working today and on which trains? We may be able to visit this afternoon for a quick trip. Thanks

 

Have services to Alton restarted yet or is there a planned reintroduction date?

Thanks. Popped into Ropley today at 12.45 as I happened to be passing and saw the two service trains pass each other. Took the dog for a wander around the restoration trail but no time for a ride.



Weather was rather grey and overcast...

 

506 and 30925 both working well but afternoon trains poorly loaded. Glad we made the effort though

 

Had a fun day on Monday chasing the trains & at least the weather was an improvement on Saturday!!

That's a cracker of 506 at Rookwood....was vry frustrated sitting in the office on Monday looking at the superb light! Unfortnately with the boss of bosses in the office, no chance of sneaking away early!

May I ask whether trains will be running to Alton over the February half term?

 

Yes they will. The railway will formally open with an event on the 14th February.
