That's one reason why I said it was great. Others are:
    • It steams well,
    • It is a strong loco
    • It accelerates well
    • It's a pleasure to drive
    • It's in a very smart livery
    • It's easy to dispose

Paint it Brunswick green with GWR on the Tender, call it Trump Hall and give it a copper capped chimney. That should satisfy the Gas Work gang :)

Why paint it in an inferior livery, though?

I may prefer Western locos above all else, but that's not to say that I think that they're the only great locos ;)

And how does this list stand up for a Gasworks engine:):
    • It steams well, - but only with the 'right' welsh rock
    • It is a strong loco - on a flat railway
    • It accelerates well - downhill
    • It's a pleasure to drive - only if your built like a gorilla
    • It's in a very smart livery - to prevent a uprising of the followers only available in drab green or black
    • It's easy to dispose - its a pig to dispose

Did you by chance get up close and personnel with 6619! - suitably modified (made slightly less Swindon) with a rocking grate and not forgetting the bit of a meccano on the brake handle so you could look out the side whilst shunting and still operate the brake!

I passed out for driving on the NYMR on 6619 so I have a slight affection for it, even though it exhibits all the usual faults attributable to GW locos, 56XX ones in particular. It used to plod up the bank to Goathland but, if you stopped for a blow up, you knew that you could re-start the train. Certainly steamed better once the Kylchap was fitted. The extended brake handle allowed you to apply the brake whilst looking out but you still needed ape-like arms to reach the ejector to take it off.

Good to see 4555 back, remember many years of watching “warrior” from the beach at Goodrington in the summer

When it's known, can somebody give us a heads up when 4555 is planned to be in traffic please, thanks.

    2020 train times here https://www.dartmouthrailriver.co.uk/visitor-info/our-leaflets-with-timetables

Some changes to last year, I notice blue 'low' season trains, Churston station is closed, and the other two immediate stops are request only, so non stop trains in theory. Two train timetable runs only Monday to Thursday in peak season, rather than Friday, going back to how it was for many years until recently.
