Bish, I think the cider is playing tricks on your memory.
1982 we weren't even running to Herston.
    Think it was around 86.
Remember balancing on the weigh beams after lunch at the Greyhound, about 10 of us piling out of Geoff's ex PO Commer van.

Why do I see an authentication box when looking at this post? Srstaff sign in required?

Is this now a closed thread requiring srstaff.co.uk privileges to view, or is it something on my iPad confusing the system.

Probably because the picture has been taken from the SRStaff website, which requires authentication, which biggles200 should not have if he is not a volunteer or staff member of the railway. The picture should be attributed to Andrew P M Wright, the Swanage Railway's official photographer and press liaison.

That Greyhound always looks wonderful, looking graceful doing whatever job it's tasked with, so no small wonder it's one of my top favourites.

I just hope it gets to stay at Swanage for longer and get another overhaul, one would think the NRM can clearly see that is the best place for it.

The BR lined Black livery suits 30120 , also, I actually think the style of lining suits Pre grouping engines better than the later types

For those who couldn't see the other picture of the carriage shed under construction because it was linked behind a password protected site, here are a couple more from APMW. A lot of progress on the railway to celebrate at the moment.

Also, shades of the Bridport branch that lasted three years longer than Swanage and closed in May 1975. Usual 121 (coffin nail) strengthened with 3 car 117 unit on last day.
Funnily enough, the only track now left on the branch is what Swanage volunteers laid in the early 90's to accommodate two coaches to act as offices for the West Bay
    flood defence scheme.

We moved to Swanage in mid December 2014 and in that time I have taken many images on an almost daily basis of the railway. This being helped by running my wife's eBay shop for her requiring daily trips to the Post Office, handily placed across from the station. As an extra back up I have loaded some of these on SmugMug.
Happy for anyone with an interest in the Swanage Railway to have a look.
This is not meant to be any form of definitive historical record (the railway has Andrew P.M. Wright) to do that for them but just day to day activity throughout the year.
There is of course only so many locations you can use on a line that is 5.5 miles long most of the operating days, so there will be repetitive images and as these are for me, not as any form of store shop front, there are occasionally many images of the same train service if I happen to like them. (These tend to be the type of image the Honorable Member for Hayling Island and the Isle of Wight detests!).
As I am now 68 and still have earlier Swanage images to sort through, let alone creating Galleries for all the other Heritage Lines I have visited, I hope to live long enough to get around to adding the captions to each image eventually.
If any volunteer or staff member would like an jpeg of any image they appear in just PM me.

Some really good albums there, I look forward to having a proper look through them. One that does bring back some good memories though is the Dunkirk filming one; that was a really fun time, although not quite so fun when they tried to wash the temporary paint off the signal box and I ended up being called in at 6am as they’d flooded the box!
