So if I haven't been out today to phot either mainline trip (45596 or 60009) does that count as a double Winskill ??

Why did 45596 need the farmer's permission? ;)

We decided that going north of Helwith bridge today was not very sensible so stuck with Gargrave and when I saw the river in full flood at Sherwood Brow, could not resist a going away shot withe the hope (realised) that the steam would not get blown over down in the valley bottom. There was even a hint of a shadow ...

The flooding was surreal between Long Preston and Settle, a vast stretch across the flood plain and the wind whipping up the flooding and making breaking waves over the stone walls. I hope there is a change soon to this weather I think even the hardy Yorkshire folk have had enough after the last three weeks.

Had the lot today, freezing howling wind, snow, sleet, hail, rain and a rather smart 45596 'Bahamas' about to pass Salt Lake Cottages hauling KWVR special to
Carlisle Peter Kirk driving and Danny Davin firing

On the return at Coombe Eden with the swollen River Eden and Armathwaite in the background Mick Rawling driving and John Rodgers firing

The farmer is doing some construction over the bridge and round the corner, hence at present there is a bit of a car park at the edge of the A65 were i parked up , enough for a few cars - he came along on his tractor, passing by, and stated it was a private road and I was trespassing and he didnt want it to be used as a car park and used by a load of photographers. I asked his permission to say for 10 minutes to which he agreed but if anyone else came, he said for me to tell them they had to move on. Luckily I was the only one there.
