The work on the two big projects seems to progressing well:
    • Dereham shed - the latest photos on Friends of the Mid-Norfolk Railway Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/FofMNR/) show the steel frame for the shed going up very quickly, given the first two uprights were only installed on Tuesday.
    • Work on the doubling track between Kimberley and Hardingham, along with the associated fan of sidings is also progressing at speed. Latest work includes installation of the turnout to connect the running line into the Hardingham yard
At the same time as all this was happening, 24 trains were run on behalf of www.horrortrain.co.uk (a 'halloween scare trip experience') and regular visits from the Networkrail RHTT trains that are serviced in Dereham yard.
    Exciting times for the MNR!

More news from the Mid-Norfolk - in addition to the regular movements of new and old stock for Greater Anglia, today has seen the return of commercial freight traffic, in the form of MOD vehicles (https://www.facebook.com/groups/FofMNR/). Since the loading ramp was removed a number of years ago, these were unloaded using the centre road of the new shed!

I keep seeing information on the heritage painting Facebook page of the fantastic work being done on the mk1+mk2 rake into a BR maroon livery, and even the austerity having a LMR livery applied. This will all look incredibly smart for when flying scotsman arrives for its visit.

Some interesting work going on at the MNR upgrading the level crossing on Yaxham Road in Dereham. Can't be easy working under the main A47 flyover! (Photos from Friends of MNR Facebook page by Russ Bulmer and Peter Singlehurst)

Yes I was intrigued when I read the article. I think its a smart move, the vast majority of visitors are families who want a great day out in clean, warm and comfortable surroundings. Most casual visitors aren't going to know the difference between a Mk1, Mk2, Mk3 coach or much care whether the correct shade of paint has been applied to the correct number of rivets. Not forgetting that for most children nowadays a journey in any type of carriage pulled by a loco is a novelty! I love the fact that there are so many diverse heritage railways and I'm always impressed by those that have an imaginative eye on the future.

In case anyone is interested. The latest issue of Railway Herald magazine has just been published and includes The history of the Railway around Taunton part two.

Some great updates there, and lots of news about the positive developments on the railway. Well done to the folk who keep the sites up to date and fresh. I get a real sense of the railway’s ambitions and there does seem to be a ‘buzz’ about the line from reading the comments. I’ll add the line to my places to visits list with the family in 2021 (hopefully)!

Not every one uses Facebook for whatever reason.
Is it not possible to post on a website?
