The railway is delighted to announce the first visiting locomotive that will be attending the Spring Steam Gala.

Great Western Railway 28XX class 2-8-0 No 2857 is visiting courtesy of our friends at the Severn Valley Railway and its owners, The 2857 Society. It will be joined by locomotives from our home fleet hauling a variety of different trains which will include the BR Suburban set and the LNER Quad-Art set, making a rare appearance at a steam gala. A goods train will operate each day along with double-headed and non-stop trains. Details of the second visiting locomotive will be announced next Friday.

Following the success of last year’s Autumn Steam Gala we will again be offering our ‘Kids for a Quid’ offer and the public timetable for the event will be available before the end of this month.

For details of tickets please see https://nnrailway.digitickets.co.uk/category/21720

If you’re intending to come to our steam gala over the 27th to 29th March, you get 10% discount right up to the 17th March.

If you’re intending to bring children, we are running our kids for a quid again. Advance tickets for our Fish and Chip trains are also available on the website.

Pretty good value for 2 guest engines that haven’t been to the NNR before, and supported by a great cast of home engines!

Sad to see the Standard 4MT isn't running at the gala, really like that engine. I presume that it's due to Maintenance or something like that.

Still, with two visitors it's still looking like a really good event and I'm looking forward to it :)

76084 is still under winter maintenance, and the shed staff are working hard to put it all back together in time. It’s hoping it will be spare engine for the gala.

    Some bad news I'm afraid.

    SPRING GALA POSTPONEMENT

In view of the rapidly developing public health emergency created by the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the constantly changing official advice coupled with the possibility of social distancing measures being implemented in the coming weeks, the Railway has taken the decision to postpone the full Spring Steam Gala planned for the 27 – 29 March.

We understand that many people who were planning to attend will be disappointed but we feel that this is the responsible approach to minimise risk to our visitors, staff and volunteers. The Railway is however planning to operate a special weekend with the LNER Quad-Art set, the BR Suburban set both of which comprise compartment coaches and our Mark 1 coaches which have compartments. A goods train will also run and the locomotives in use will be LNER B12/3 4-6-0 No 8572, GER Y14 0-6-0 No 564, WD 2-10-0 No 90775 and BR Standard Class 9 2-10-0 No 92203. The Saturday evening fish and chip train will still run.

The North Norfolk Railway continues to operate normally and is open to visitors on the dates published on our timetable page.

All gala tickets will be available for the weekend and anyone who has already booked will be entitled to a reduction to our normal Rover ticket price of £14.00.

    Unfortunate but prudent.

I bet this won’t be the only special event disrupted on the foreseeable future
