Steam Dreams To Winchester and Littlehampton: Latest Date - 14/03/21

Assuming this goes ahead, does anyone know in which direction steam will lead on the Littlehampton excursion, and will it be chimney-first while leading? Thanks.

 

Is this classed as necessary travel or a social gathering? Unfortunately I'd be very surprised if the promotor runs this next weekend as not sure thit supports the current Government advice on social distancing?

 

I would suggest, based on the outline times, it will be Steam at the head Paddington to Winchester and then on via Havant to Littlehampton (reverse), Diesel from Littlehampton to Fratton (reverse) and then Steam Fratton - Winchester - Paddington.

 

Yes, I expect it to be cancelled. However, just in case...

 

Details seem to have disappeared from the Steam Dreams website. But nothing on there that I can see about cancellation....
Also nothing on their Twitter feed....

 

The banner on the Railway Herald tours page says this. I thought it had already been mentioned on here but maybe it was one of the other forums.
I believe it would fall foul of both the social distancing and unnecessary travel requirements.

"The trip on 22nd March is postponed, with details for April's programme to be announced shortly."

 

Steam Dreams web-site has this but it's buried in the timings section of all places!

Update 18-03-20

Due to the recommended preventative measures stated in the Government’s broadcast earlier this week, we have taken the difficult decision that in the interests of the health and safety of our staff, volunteers and passengers we are postponing our planned trips in March and April.

We have written to all passengers with further details and travel options.
Many thanks for your understanding in this unprecedented situation.

No steam for a few months then....

 

I was booked on this trip, now rescheduled to Sun 23 Aug 20.

 

..... subject to the effects of COVID-19 being much more under control than they are at the moment.
Just over 20 weeks to go then ........

 

Just had an email from Steam Dreams, the trip has been postponed with a provisional new date Sunday 18 July 2021.

A few choices of what to do, I am happy to keep my tickets as originally booked.

 

Another update, due to engineering works in July 2021, the trip has now been moved to Sunday 14 March 2021.

 

I've just received an email from Steam Dreams to say that this trip has been cancelled.

Several options to move the booking to alternative trips, no complaints from me for Steam Dreams' best efforts to run it.
