The Spring Gala at the ESR for 2020 is scheduled for 21/22 March. Potentially 4555, 5239, 5637, 46447 and 1719 'Lady Nan' could all be in action subject to 4555's overhaul being completed and the DSR not requiring 5239. The shed and workshop viewing area should be also open as usual where progress on the start of 4110's restoration should be visible.

The link in post #1 has been updated to confirm that 4555, 5239, 5637, 46447 and 1719 are all expected to attend. This will be the first time 4555 has visited Cranmore since it was shedded at Westbury in BR days. The timetable has also been posted.

I wonder if 4 passenger trips are enough tbh. I'm sure they will pull quite a crowd with a line up like that, and with no WSR or SVR gala in March either.

4555 first trains in 13 years.
First time 5239 has been away from the Dartmouth Railway in preservation.
Final appearance of 5637 at the ESR.

This has the potential to be a really good gala. It's a shame that the last train departs from Cranmore at 15:55. <BJ>

Facebook page says seven services, but I assume that includes goods trains as well.

https://eastsomersetrailway.com/calendar click on the dates of the gala, and it lists departures as 11.10, 12.05, 14.00 and 15.55.

Updated timetable now on ESR webpage here:
    https://eastsomersetrailway.com/events/view/steam-gala
All trains are passenger which allows people to do more riding and also gives the chance to put in an extra trip with much less shunting being required (8 now not 7 as before). I believe preliminary loco allocations have also been made and will be uploaded in due course.

Loco allocations are now up on the same link as in post 9. I believe it is planned to have 4555 facing towards Cranmore ie. the same way as 5637 and 5239.

Which way does 46447 face? The website photo suggests it also faces Cranmore.

46447 was turned after its visit to the IoW in 2018 and faces towards Shepton. The photo on the website is an older one from before this.

Update on ESR facebook that this is STILL GOING AHEAD. Lady nan will no longer be operating but the 4 Ex-BR locos are. This will be last 2 operating dates until further notice at the ESR.

Most Heritage Railways have acted in a responsible manner in cancelling events and operations. It is sad that a small minority have not thought about the wider community and carry on regardless.

I suspect that this is a decision driven by finances...
