Works being done in Eastleigh. They have experience there as they did upgrades on the FGW fleet in 2008. Each of these moves were done with dispensations for a limited period.

    These are strange times, Steve!

(I’m terribly disappointed that due to social distancing rules and restrictions on unnecessary travel, I wasn’t able to pop down to Salisbury station to photograph them ;) )

Just to carry this on. i read that in France older model TGV are being used as hospital trains;meanwhile Angel Trains stated that it will sell HST for scrap within a month or so. perhaps the Pacers are for emergency purposes!!!!

Assuming that they are destined for Swanrail, the issue with the juice rail could be surmounted by insulating the bottom spring hangers. Paint em green, Purbeck line logo and off to Waterloo we go...

Strategic reserve, next to the WD 8 and 9's that are hidden in the trees behind the mining museum at Norden.

How true is that? They used to work to Bidston, also 3rd rail electrified.

It will be 1st April in an hour and a half - and time for stories like this. I do have to advise that there is no truth in the suggestion that these Pacer units are destined for Swanage and the Wareham service. The 117 and 121 units are stored at Corfe Castle ready for use.

Well I heard down the pub today that they were going to Havenstreet for when the Isle of Wight Steam railway operate through to Ryde.:)

What do you mean - you don't believe me. If I heard it in the pub it must be true!

There’s only one problem with that - there aren’t any pubs to hear it in.

I did wonder that. Looking at photos, I can't see anything that should get close to third rail. The bottom of the suspension shouldn't move that much in relation to the bottom of the wheel.

I was half expecting this to appear on the Swanage Railway website today as their April fool story - but nothing.

Makes me wonder if there is some truth in it.

I'd be deeply shocked - is there really that much "fuel" in the sewers of East Devon? The coincidence with the name of 34010 is too great.

Yes I saw that effort from SLL. Very amusing. At least the Pacer idea is half believable.

I think pacers would be a rubbish idea they should use something better than that. People will get to Wareham to go for a nice trip and be disappointing when that thing turns up. They normally have good ideas but this one is the worst. They won’t look good in photos when the trains go passed each other

Nick, throw fuel on the fire, don't suffocate it, otherwise they will suss out the delivery of the Thumpers from Oakhampton.
