Now that trains have stopped running the real work has started.
A sure sign of this is the appearance of Nigel's News, the first issue is attached.

Working in a flood at the top of the hill.

Still waiting for the next isue of Nigel's News, until then some notes on work todate.
Now that the train crews have finally gone home we can come out to play.

Br 27 at Goathland is the big project this winter.
2/3rds of it to be replaced with a new bridge.
The bridge under the 2 tracks to the right is to be replaced.
Following the arrival before Christmas of the new bridge from Cleveland Bridge on Teeside and the deliver this week of the 2 KIROW Cranes that will do the heavy lifting.
The UP line has now been removed ready for excavation into spoil wagons for disposal.
After the Up then the Down will be removed and dug out before bridge works can proceed.

Site cabins, temporary access from the road and S+T dismantling.

The plant on site is a bit on the serious side. As seen in the photo, 1 Kirow alongside the Signal box the other can be seen through the arch of the bridge.
Not one but Two KIROW Cranes on a break from mainline duties.
A Colmar MEGARAILER and our own resident 12t Plasser crane removing track.

All photos here are from publically accesible positions as of today.
There is no access to site other than by the booked personnel for the job.

At Fen Bog all the replacement sleepers have now been laid and existing rails put back and joined up to the exiting track.

No bridge updates recently, but we have been doing more run of the mill works in the meantime.

A little bit of rerailing, changing FB98 of 1950 vintage for some brand new FB 113A in old money.
From Summit down to Moorgates, photos taken by a number of different people and not in any order.
A few shots showwing our BORAIL Wagon in use. Does anyone else have one set up like this?

The KIROW crane is now in Newbridge awaiting a move date but is having a few days servicing first.

    Keep up the good work!
Ps Nigel’s update ought to be dated 10th March (rather than February).

Total of 3 stone trains today with a convoy of tippers running stone from the Dales into Newbridge.
Some stone did not even stay in the yard for 10 minutes before being loaded and taken away.

12-3-20 Stone tip run.jpg Back in the yard a first for me.
The provision of Rubber crossing panels in pointwork. Seen plenty on plain line but not in pointwork. This unit will be the turnout into the new carriage stable.

Also back in the yard the Regulator was undergoing Air Brake system checks.

Thats it 5 minutes and another 40 - 50 tonnes gone.

Does any kind soul have an update as to how far the winter work progressed before lockdown?
( I have been checking the NYMR website to see if a further update has been posted since the 10th March one linked above.)

    Any update appreciated.

Might be worth subscribing to Moors Express via NYMR website. Monthly updates but not sure for how long.

The track across the new bridge at Goathland has been laid on one line but has yet to ballasted, tamped, the other line has yet to be completed. Moors Express sign up link below https://1460523-88bbb5.sibpages.com/
