The Romanian Engines were made under License same as Vickers were. Several groups made a combined straight LDA head purchase some years ago when you could get heads off of 6LDA DH and DE shunters with less than 1,000 hours. Three heads we bought were installed and have done several thousand hours already. Only difference was metric threads for the rockers etc so we got nearly new castles for those as well. Rocker oil feeds and drains banjos were BSP threads. At that time plenty of liners and turbos in the stores. Brake equipment they used was the same base Okerlion design but had different castings but still recognisable as FD1 and FV3 etc Plenty of LDA twin bank engines around but they had more hours and wear and tear.

There are some 'handy lads' round the Keighley area, those Cummins and Voith parts will be quite attractive.

You ought to give a warning before posting videos like that so at least we can go into private browsing mode. God-only knows what’s going to be in my YouTube suggestions now ...

I wouldn't worry overly. I mainly watch trains and alt-country music and my recommendations pretty much always assume that I want to watch Dr Jordan Peterson DESTROY feminism. Hours of Pacers would be a welcome relief.

Having spent many hours commuting on them I think it's probably closer to Stockholm Syndrome.

    Just for Victor ......
Pacer coach 55572 safely tucked away in Eastleigh works, no doubt awaiting stripping for useful bits and a one way trip in a skip out of town.

    Cheers, Neil

The Fawley branch is just about far enough away from my land that I don't have to concern myself, oop 'ere we've had to suffer the 'kin things for years, it's time for other folk to get acquainted with the abject heaps of misery............:)
For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of 5 across bus seating...........here's a taster.
It should be on every enthusiasts 'bucket list'.............Carlisle to Leeds (full and standing)

We were familiar with 3+2 seating down here as well from 1940's until about 2005.

I'm not certain what was worse, a pacer or a run down 4EPB which either smelt musty and damp or old electric fires about to catch fire.... At least there were fewer drafts in a pacer.

Sorry for winding people up about pacers on the Fawley branch. I forgot to add the ;)!
(They would never manage the climb from Frost Lane to Hythe station.)

    Cheers, Neil

Cor that picture takes me back, i used to catch a train every day for about 5 years from Putney to Waterloo and return usually a 4SUB sometimes a 4EPB with the odd 2HAL/BIL but they all smelt musty.
