    Evening All,

To celebrate the return of Fotopic, I have added half a dozen
pictures of two long closed North Wales slate quarries. As they
were taken in the evening (after a day's work on the Festiniog
Railway Permanent Way) the quality isn't 100%, but I have included
    them for their historical interest.

They are in the 'Stop Press!' collection for new pictures at the
moment and, if anyone cares to have a look, here's the link :

    http://ronfisher2.fotopic.net/c1099919.html

In a couple of weeks or so I shall move them on to the North Wales
Quarry Railways colletion and they will then be here :

Hope that they are of interest.

I'll say, thanks seconded! That's the loco shed on the top level isn't it? The one that Gelli's frames were found in as the inspection pit?

    Certainly are Ron.

Lower down, you have some vintage bus pics. The little charabancs next to the Green Jersey Leyland TD1 is what I think is Mike Sutcliffes Chevrolet.

Anyone know where Gelli's frames have ended up?

The caption below the image states that Pendyffryn is now at the BMR. ;-)

After they were recovered from Pen yr Orsedd they spent quite some time out at the back of the Slate Museum in Llanberis - in addition to the frames there was (at least) a tank and a crank axle wheelset. The area where they were is where the cottages from Tanygrisiau now stand; I think the de Winton parts may have been removed to Llanuwchllyn.

I understand that Gelli's frames are currently located in Berkshire. I also vaguely remember being told that the water tank isn't from Gelli and is from a different pattern De Winton. Might be wrong there though!

Francis Stapleton had Gelli's frames, a water tank from a different De Winton and two plain axles IIRC. My De Winton records and notes are currently elsewhere, so cannot say exactly what at the mo. Last known in Berkshire as said above.

I did an Internet search and read that Pendyffryn had been rescued and was now at the Brecon Mountain Railway, so added it to the caption. Can anybody confirm that this is correct? (I assume that it is; I read it on the Internet!)

PENDYFFRYN is listed at the Brecon Mountain Railway in the current "Industrial Locomotives" book published by The Industrial Railway Society http://www.irsociety.co.uk

GELLI is listed at Peter Smith, Newbury.
