If it's part of the strategic reserve, it would be bad if it was seen. All meant to be top secret and those seeing it would need to be shot.;)

'Kilmersdon' is an 0-4-0T industrial loco. It may be OK running short brake-van trips up/down WD yard, or around the NF triangle , or on short lines such as Helston. But those who remember 'Victor' or 'Vulcan' will tell you that it is not the thing for longer distances over the WSR.

Coach 4 is a First Class coach with very thick, comfy cushions - I've sat on them! I've also ridden in the coach when it was doing short 'shuttle' trips in/out of MD station at previous Galas - once you get above a few MPH you are rapidly reminded that this is a C19th coach on a short-wheelbase 6-wheeled chassis. I doubt that any passenger who did BL-NF and back would want to do it again :)

Ideas are good. Practical ideas are much better :) With respect, too many recent suggestions give me the impression of someone trying to up-scale their 'model train set' to the full-sized world without any understanding of how things really work in 1:1 scale.

When I looked at this thread, just now, I saw that there were several pages of new posts. "Ah", I thought, "something has happened," but no... Quarantine is beginning to bite, it seems.

A serious question. Do you have issues that affect how you interact with other people and how you act in social situations? If you do then just say because at the moment it is very difficult to work out where you are coming from. Your posts and ideas seem to be causing antipathy.

I am curious, just how dysfunctional does the WSR setup have to be, and how bad do things have to get on the railway before you consider that it is not fit for a modern million pound C21 heritage railway?

Seems a bit hypocritical of you to be making digs at critics at NP.

As you are here, quick question what is your and the WSSRT’s view on the eviction of the S&DRT by the PLC? Do you support or oppose the eviction?

I honestly don't think you will ever get any office holder who is an active member of the WSR to clalify their position over the eviction on here, or any other publically availible site, because if they did critisise the PLC ,they risk being thrown off the railway by the chairman, or if in favour, stand to be exposed to being biased in favour of the PLC, and at a later date, will be no longer welcome if the Plc changes, and members who were in favour of the mueseum trust remaining win the day, either way, sitting on the fence might end up with you being blamed by both sides.

22nd April statement by Mark Smith WSR PLC director :-

"Some bills need to be paid and the cash from our emergency appeal is helping with that."

Today, from the WSR PLC board:-

"Money donated to the WSR's Emergency Appeal will be used towards the essential care and maintenance of the railway."

Sorry, perhaps I'm being a bit slow tonight, but what is the point you are making.? Those statements seem to be in accordance with each other.

    I'm puzzled too.....
However, the statement would seem to suggest that the funds which one might expect the Plc to have in reserve for normal care and maintenance either do not exist or are severely depleted, if they have to use the Emergency Appeal for that purpose. Another reason why expending money on trying to evict their tenant at WD, thereby not only losing guaranteed rental income but also incurring further maintenance expenditure in order to keep the station in good order thereafter, simply fails to make any sense.

The phrase of "Assumptions are the mother of all f***-ups" comes to mind. This was something that the person in charge was keen to emphasise during my first evening volunteering at a particular railway, and it's been immortalised in my mind ever since!

And it's not just railways. As a trainee aircraft engineer it was hammered into all of us:- "Never assume - Check". Usually closely followed by- "If in doubt - Dont"

Humm, perhaps that last one could be applied to some of the posts on here... :D
