Nope. If you want to ride the high horse of 'correct' liveries, then the un-rebuilt Bulleids would require all modifications from before the colours you want it removed, I really have AWS in mind but not sure when it was fitted.
The SR Q has evidence of its AWS and the H has bits of its push pull mods left on if you know where to look.
    Complicated innit?

Adding to your modifications, if it's a Bullied in Malachite Green (SR or BR variants) then you would have to remove AWS as you say, but also unless the loco has one, would need a higher sided tender to made. This has been done for both Blackmoor Vale and 92 Squadron (as well as originally being planned for Wadebridge).

Some are still talking about how good Leander looked as LMS 5690 in contrast to current time. This is 6 years since last overhaul was completed.

Quite agree Leander looked far better in LMS Crimson Lake. At the moment at first glance she looks like another Black 5 in the current admittedly genuine BR black mt livery........ For once Smiffy at West Coast worked a flanker by painting Galatea in the fictitious BR maroon as per the genuine Maroon livery on the Duchess/Princess'.

It wasn’t BR Maroon, there is no such colour, there is LMS crimson lake which was adopted by BR fir some Pacific’s and there is the red that they used on Galatea

If we're going on about Jubilee liveries, how about the LMS post-war experimental blue? Not carried by any of the preserved examples back in the day, but seemingly applied to 5573 Newfoundland.

I like BR green, that's all, although I have to say it did look good at the SVR in 2010 with the LMS set.

Hadn't known of that livery. There are after all 4 Jubilees surviving, thus making it possible to recreate most of the liveries. Kolhapur carried the original livery used on 5552 Silver Jubilee of Black [a similar livery to the BR Black] with "silver" boiler bands and numbers, Leander in Crimson Lake, Bahamas in BR green though in her early preservation days Crimson Lake too. So yes the experimental Blue why not....... on Galatea.

Edit: Fair enough Matt37401. Though as I've highlighted there are enough to give a variety of colour schemes.

Oh absolutely, it's just nice to ring the changes now and then, it's all subjective though, I really like 6233 now it's gone back into red yet I'd be happy to see Lizzie wear something else other than LMS Red. Am I strange for wanting that? Closer to home I really love the Apple Green on 8572 and the paintwork on the Y14 is a work of art, its just nice to see something different now and again.

For once, John, I'd perhaps take issue on that. There was never a BR 'Crimson Lake' - only the LMS referred to it as such - for BR it was Maroon, which covered coaches and locos. The LM Pacifics were, of course, styled on the LMS version but all with yellow lining as opposed to gold, edged with vermillion (as per the non-streamlined Duchesses). As with all things, there were anomalies: 46254 was repainted at Crewe for display at Stoke and there are official BR colour photos of it but it was a very pink shade (I'd always thought it was the film emulsions), similar to the Humbrol 5596, so it was recalled for a repaint.

I know you've never liked 45699 in red but it was a hasty and temporary(!) repaint for a private charter for Nigel Dobbing. It was also a sort of 'economy' livery, as the tender frames remained black and quite bit of the lining was never applied and that which was was cream rather than straw/yellow. It was a rush job that stayed, not least because DS (and the rest of us!) liked it.

Anyway, whatever anyone feels personally about a loco livery, as ever, it really down to what the owner likes or decides.

I didn’t know about 46254 and it’s not mentioned in any of Essery and Jenkins book but I can quite believe it. I knew the lining on the BR red Pacifics was yellow, that’s why I used the term, LMS style but just to muddy the waters some were first given the same lining as the green ones.

I believe crimson lake was a term originally used by the Midland and I remember a debate in the HMRS Journal many years ago about why the Midland colour was deeper and richer than the LMS version ( there were people about back then who could remember the Midland). The consensus was that it was down to the Midland using brown undercoat and the LMS grey.

I don’t know where you got the impression that I didn’t like Galatea in red, it just needed to have LMS on the tender and drop a digit from the number!
