44871 bursts out of beasdale Tunnel No 1 and gets to grips with the gradient in May 2018. Loch Nan Umnah Viaduct is at the other end of this Tunnel

Tender-first has had a couple of mentions. Occasionally in the right light and location it can produce a pleasing image.....

Carlisle 2012

 

During my visit in May last year the Highlands were experiencing a prolonged heatwave and mid week fire risk running was instigated. I needed to find locations where I could hide the diesel on the back, with the thermometer showing 27C there was going to be no exhaust so I chose the downgrade location between the Creag Ghobhar Tunnels on the way down from Glenfinnan Summit. The gap between the tunnels is only about 150 yards

I didn’t mention it as I’ve already posted your ugly mug up thread! Quite a lucky shot with the sun making an appearance at the last minute. Fingers crossed that we can have a pint in the Grog this year too,
