So, I saw this poster on tinternet. I grew up in Iver Heath, and as far as I was aware the nearest London Transport was Uxbridge station, (Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines) about 3 miles away. I didn't think there were trams to Uxbridge-I believe they stopped at Ealing Broadway, But the poster says "By tram from Sheherds Bush and Hammersmith to Uxbridge"
Would it be normal for LUT to advertise a destination many miles beyond its reach? Or is my understanding of the tram system seriously flawed.

It would appear that trams did run to Uxbridge - see http://www.tundria.com/trams/GBR/London-1934.shtml#London-W. Replaced by trolley buses in 1936 I believe

Yes I am an active volunteer
I think the device was run in its final days by Felthams with the weak field switch for higher speeds on the rural parts of the route
