Maybe those who haven't already will consider taking a leaf out of the Dartmouth line operations and operating a Train of Lights instead of a Santa train. :)

'Train of Lights'? How about a few of these? :D

Can you kill coronavirus with UV light?

    https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20200327-can-you-kill-coronavirus-with-uv-light
There’s only one type of UV that can reliably inactivate Covid-19 – and it’s extremely dangerous.
“You would literally be frying people,” says Dan Arnold, laughing in disbelief.

I do not see the signs that UK is over it. Daily new cases have remained between 1500 and 2000 for a very long time. Death rates maybe falling BUT that is because the Medics are doing a great job improving everyday.

I think there is cause for optimism in the data. Daily new RECORDED cases may be remaining consistent but this is despite the number of tests going up. Put another way the number of positive tests per 1000 tests carried out is falling. When we were only testing hospital admissions a large number of cases were not tested and the true number of cases could only be guessed at.

The implication being that increased testing is now picking up the less severe cases that were previously going unmeasured. The falling number of deaths is consistent with falling hospital admissions so although treatment might be improving the indications in the data are that the main driving factor behind falling deaths is a fall in the true number of infections in the community.

The ONS confirmes this is what is happening. Easing of the lockdown however is likely to slow the rate at which this diminishes or perhaps even reverse the trend. Government surveillance testing hopes to detect this early but we will only see this clearly after the 4 week time lag for new infections to turn up in the death rate figures. There does appear to be a rush to get the economy moving no doubt caused by a sudden realisation of the financial cost and lasting damage to the economy.

And Rees-Mogg’s insistence that hundreds of MPs return to Parliament to vote is likely to add to the spike.

    Thanks
Wonder if there will be locos testing the full line like some other heritage railways?

Corfe Castle has had a limited reopening
    https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/corfe-castle
So maybe the Corfe railway and Norden Mining museums could now have a limited reopening with takeaway refreshments? (If risk assessments and distancing procedures are done)

Norden Mining Museum (used to be Purbeck Mining Museum) requires volunteers. Don't forget that many volunteers are over 70's and are stay at home.

The museum website still refers to it as the Purbeck Mineral and Mining Museum, as does the SR website.

    http://purbeckminingmuseum.org/

On the other hand, Norden Park & Ride has become Purbeck Park recently.

On Sunday there were members of the public on the platform waiting for a train or just spreading Coronavirus. The next train will be non stopper in July.

If the platform was at Swanage then "The next train will be non stopper in July" should be interesting.

That can be the 'joy' of automated announcements. OT I know, but when standing on Dorchester station to meet the sand train, and unhook the engine for the run-round, the announcement was to the effect that 'the next train does not stop at this station'. My reply to this can be imagined. :Saywhat:

    Hi Everyone,

The latest instalment in our SOS video series is now available for view. Our survival really is on a knife edge so please take the time to watch and share this video as far and wide a possible. Any donations would be massively appreciated. Thankyou.

Spare the blushes but this is really professional. People will argue that the SR is no better than any other heritage railway but the way that it promotes itself and its relationship with the community strikes me as second to none.

It deserves to be supported by Purbeck residents and the wider heritage community.

Good video, good balance between speech and music, excellent overhead drone shots, frustrating to have loco work, carriage shed work and the long awaited Wareham service on hold, gets the fundraising message over well.

I'm guessing that the same explanation that you were given for the paths in the system for December to May, still applies.
