before everyone gets excited at the thought of a Manor at the head of 8 packed mark 1's , what appears to be a ballast train at Norton Fitzwarren , which presumably would never have been effected by lockdown does not count as a sign of the railway reopening (at least in my book) any attempt to portray it as such is spin in the mould of #classicdom

I live in Frome & getting to BL is pretty straightforward.

At least if you miss a train on the L&B you dont have to wait that long for the next!

Why could a new charity not have sub committees/departments dealing with locos, carriages, wagons, museums, stations etc etc ? As it has often been suggested, these "departments" could even have their own restricted funds accounts within the main charity.

How does that work ? Many of the smaller shareholders have been lost to the record so their votes cannot be used. Of those that are traceable, many will not bother to vote or appoint proxies and three bodies hold relatively substantial numbers which, if used in unison, would present a sizeable barrier for other players to overcome. Where does the Board get its authority if not by the votes of the shareholders ?

    Thanks, Keith,
I think you are right but to what end ? The way they're going at the moment there may be little left for a winner. I'm reminded of a Gaham Wilson cartoon of the Vietnam era:

    WSSRT Objects
    Powers 5
    (9)
Note the restriction in (4) as well

Note that they are not geographically restricted, nor is there any mention of the WSR or the line...*

    Compare with the WSRA objects.

    * anyone spot the importance of there being no mention...

That is how it should be but you cannot help thinking that the WSR has the other way around!

Yep, on the same day the WSR's metals were shined by a revenue earning train.

That could potentially be fair enough, I can think of plenty of other railways which have a similar sort of thing. It's the fact that both charities have equal moderately sized shareholdings in the Plc which I think is the main problem, which leads to there being no proper shareholder accountability through any sort of membership. Along with a few other problems, for example both charities are currently running "survival appeals" for the WSR, which seems wholly unnecessary.

Currently no trains are planned before 2021. That will include railtours.

They run as per NR's work programme. Lockdown is still in place to some extent, I believe. Not sure I understand what you are driving at, @Sidmouth

I'm just pleased the WSR has been able to have a revenue earning train on its metals again.

Possibly, or perhaps slightly different, a sense of feeling important, or even relevant, and thus maintaining power and autonomy? It's probably not much better than "gut-hating" but at least with slightly less malice.
