Great photographs! I can't help feeling sadness though, that it's become part of our culture to celebrate, with namings, the closure of works and the like...
In any other right country these places would still be open!

Cheers Dave! Great phots I think that was 31163, then in 99 31110 went into green as part of the EWS Heritage fleet, C/O Diesel Traction Group.

Sorry, slightly off topic, but is the 08 still with us? I seem to recall seeing it at Willesden some time after and looking very faded.

 

Withdrawn from traffic in May 2008 and broken up by C F Booth of Rotherham in February 2011.

 

Thought I'd put a quick post on here to update you all.

The stripping of the loco has begun and progress has been quicker than originally hoped/planned. The chimney & cab roof have been removed along with the cab fittings, this is in preparation for the boiler to be lifted by the end of August.

Just as a follow on to the above post - the boiler was successfully lifted yesterday.
