Statement from Mid Suffolk Light Railway posted on Facebook.

"We have been asked over the last week or so about the Middy reopening. As things stand at the moment we have no plans to open as there would need to be a significant relaxing of the social distancing rules before we could contemplate doing so due to the restrictions of our site - This is being continually monitored and if the situation changes we will let you know."

Does anyone know how Leicester's extended lockdown will affect the GCR plans for reopening? BBC reporting restrictions on all but essential travel, stay home etc as far north as Birstall

I received an email from the North York Moors last night announcing that a daily service will commence on Saturday 1st August, four return trips Grosmont-Goathland and Pickering-Levisham, advance booking only.
The fares for either of the journeys are quite unbelievable: £100 for 6 in a compartment;£80 for 4 or £40 for 2 at a table. Single person fares at £25 only available on the 1530 from Pickering which returns from Levisham diesel hauled! (The steam locomotive on this trip obviously continues to Grosmont Shed LE).
By comparison, all day rovers in 2018 were £26 Pickering-Grosmont and £31 Pickering-Whitby.
It is clearly going to be a very difficult summer for tourist attractions suffering from so many bureaucratic restrictions, but I am afraid that visitors will be very disappointed with the poor value being offered by the NYMR.

Cutting out the Moors on the NYMR ! No toilets, limited steam and a tad pricey ! We're up their for five days at the end of September and I hope this just a temporary 'toe in the water' feeling out process.

That does seem expensive when the GWSR are doing a compartment for £50 plus £10 per person over two or the SVR which is £75 for a compartment for up to 6. Both running full line and all steam too.

Just a reminder this thread is only for posting reopening dates.

If you want to discuss the procedures or service that a railway brings in when it reopens, either use the discussion thread https://national-preservation.com/threads/recommissioning-after-coronavirus.1417862/page-42 or the railways individual thread.

Snowdon Mountain Railway will restart Diesel service to Clogwyn on 10th July. The journey to the summit and Steam services will restart in 2021. https://snowdonrailway.co.uk/times-prices/

I think discussion of fares is useful @Sidmouth maybe you could add that information to the list as known?

Yes, a full reopening. Come on down, the price is right!

Discussion of prices surely is relevant, as these can decide whether folk can afford it!

This has appeared in the local comic today...

Think that could be the case with the local Transport Museum as well.

Just wondering if any railways are contemplating running Santa specials this year or are all writing them off?

We've cancelled our normal arrangements, but we're still hoping to do something Christmas-y.

As per the Chairman's update in the latest Bluebell News:

A large part of our reopening plan has also focused on the remainder of 2020, including reviewing all those events in the calendar. These events will remain under review and at the moment we still hope to offer something special in October as well as our Christmas service.
Of course, it's still a long way away and much could change in any direction.

    Tom

To summarise, ELR reopening their pubs this weekend. Still working towards running trains, and they’ll update asap. As an aside Mike Kelly’s blog is a good read, really informative.
