Are those part of the railway family or not? (I lose track in the alphabet soup...)

SNAFU & FUBAR were certainly in common railway use, and presumably still are. However I think FUBB relates more to the modern high-tech world rather than heavy industry. I certainly never came across it in 23 years with the old BR.

But the 3 Ps; letters five, six and seven are the standard usage for this outfit.

There’s a nice green Chatham engine (again ...) to look at on the safety of the other thread :)

And I know that WTF means Water The Flowerbeds, so that must be a reference to the Station Groups on the line.

I'm glad you provided that, because I was trying not to imagine how the alternative meaning would apply to the WSR, except perhaps for the disbelief it sometimes causes.

I think the approach of some people at the WSR is DILLIGAF.

It might not be a traditional tourist hotspot, but it does serve a national museum and a world heritage site!

I think the key difference there with the WSR is the word "little", though. It can probably cover costs with a two-coach train, in a way that a ten-times-longer railway could not.

But surely those "fixed costs" associated with a much longer line exist for the WSR regardless of whether it opens at all or not?
