I have been scanning some old photos and found two taken at Crewe heritage centre - date unknown
One is a SNCF steam loco La France and the second is a DB class 01 (01-1106)

Can anyone tell what happened to these locos as I can find no information about them on the internet

    Thanks

Could you have possibly taken the photos at Carnforth?

Great news for the 01 ! I well remember (as a Steamtown volunteer) baby-sitting her in a lay-by in North Yorkshire on a very cold February night when she was on her way to Carnforth from Germany. I don't remember ever being so frozen before or since!

When I was about 8 years old we stayed in a French cottage the owner of which had been the official SNCF photographer. On our last night we were invited over for a pancake supper all served on beautiful plates which in the centre had a full drawing of a famous French locomotive. At the end of the meal I was presented with a3 photograph of 231, waiting on the dockside to be exported to France. The following year I went to Carnforth and took a photo which we sent back to France. I remember 231 and the German locomotive were stabled on the road next to the miniature railway line that ran through the shed.

Well I was also scanning some slides a few days ago and came across this one at the Crewe Heritage Centre
    90-8-8 5 01.1104 etc Crewe H.C..jpg

The date is 8/8/1990. Quite a collection of Pacifics when you think about it. I had forgotten that I had ever seen them there.

To think the first three are pretty big Pacifics that look small to the German ones.

Two weeks later, on 22/8/1990, here is a similar view but now with no less than seven Pacifics in view - thats 34027 Taw Valley further down the yard.
