I thought he tried to buy the last one but couldn't do it on his own and couldn't get any support to help.

 

If you look at the thread ‘Locomotives That Nearly Made It’ it seems that whilst a group of enthusiasts tried to convince Alan Bloom to buy the last D16 he wasn’t interested as he wasn’t fond of the class. A real shame

 

That's different from the story I heard, that was that he did try to raise interest in saving 62613 with the East Anglian Traction Engine club but they weren't interested as it was a railway locomotive, not a Traction Engine.

 

62613 beautiful, a graceful loco and still running with full valences, what a partner that would have been for 61572, oh well we can but dream.

 

So what shall we send back to get 62613....???

 

Anything with the number 34xxx, especially the so called ‘streamlined’ ones.
