A quick internet search reveals photographic evidence of 30510 at Bournemouth shed, 30511 at Bournemouth Central and 30514 at an unidentified location in the Bourmenouth area - not exactly what you were looking for, but it's something to show for Urie S15s within striking distance of SDJR metals.

I thought I remembered an on-line discussion about locos that might have run on the S&D. Found it! Here it is:

Well, if the Mid Hants were to bring in a guest engine of a type that worked on the SDJR, there's plenty of choice - from something as small as a pannier tank to a much larger Bulleid light pacifc, with plenty of options in between.

If the S&DRT ends up having to move to a new home one would hope that options would be available to them of which possibly the ESR could be the best geographical solution. However, if location were irrelevant then it is hard to think of a better option than the MHR. That said, the space needed might be a deal breaker unless something could be squeezed in at Medstead.

Anyway, the prospect of 53808 moving to Hampshire is a good one.

Rule 1 - All threads eventually discuss a new build Leader
Rule 2 - All threads eventually discuss the GWSR extending North or South
Rule 3 - All threads eventually get into a Hitchcockian argument over big engines, loos on trains, buffets, extensions etc. or other Isle of Wight exceptionalism...

No, no, no - the Leader Rule is Rule 3 ...

There is also the @LMS2968 memorial rule - "There is no limit to the number of ways to disguise the question 'what is your favourite locomotive?'"

memorial rule - LNER A4, SR merchant Navy, BR Standard 9F, GWR 1400, LMS Black Five

A few golden rules to follow when posting on Nat Pres:

    1) When discussing any locomotive you must steer the debate as quickly as possible to discuss its livery.
    2) If an engine has a copper capped chimney you must dismiss it as totally useless
    3) Fact. Oliver Bulleid (an alternative spelling - Bullied - is frowned upon) is the greatest Chief Mechanical Engineer - allegedly.
    4) Thread Drift. Make a comment that has no connection whatsoever with the thread title. This post is a classic example.

I’m sure there are other rules:D.

:Jawdrop: Care to explain how you figure the SDRT can squeeze into Medstead?........

    The place is full!

The S&T & Pway occupy the fore & middle ground & the Wagon group is at the far end & Bennett's is home to the wagon fleet!

The goods shed 'might' be of use, but its too small & would probably never meet their needs, plus where would they park all their stuff?...... there's nowhere in the locaity for them to park it.

Oh & @John Petley - do bears frequent the woods?.... Is the Pope a Catholic?..... seeing the 7F at the head of the freight will be a wonderous sight! :) :) :)

Only one other of significance: all rules are suspended west of Taunton.

What if ,,,,, the Meon siding was extended and additional sidings laid in the fan where the meon line turns off, a fenced enclosure could hold the PW & S&T , ( I;ve heard it said they need caging) plus that might enable the project vehicles , or if secure the running freight stock to be stored at Alton, as long as the yobs can't get at it , that way only stock that is being worked on need be in the yard, that would free up some room , the restored stock owned by the group can be incorporated into the freight train, and the 4 wheel coach, can be added to the brighton coaches when they eventually get done.

It’s all very well saying “the restored stock can be incorporated into the freight train” but they still take up siding space when not in use, which is 99% of the time - and the impression I get from visiting the MHR is the one thing in short supply is siding space.

I jokingly started to tripe "Watch out for the notice to quit" but Martin has already got you moving out and the SDRT moving in. You do have a water tight lease, don't you? ;)
