Whether 3850 is currently operational is completely irrelevant. What is relevant is whether it was operational when it left the railway and why it left.

To take a break from matters SDRT related, I, like Martin Creese, would like to see some clarification as to why trains cannot run to Blue Anchor currently.

Exactly what is preventing this with the permanent way? Is it not very much as per the WSR reopening for 21st March, or a volunteer 's estimate of 4 weeks?

Or is it all the S&T stuff etc over the renewal of Seaward Crossing?

I would suggest that currently there has been no clear official statement on any of this, which is most unsatisfactory.

I think the 4 week timescale for P'way repairs has since appeared in an official publication, possibly steam railway or similar? As you say, still inconsistent with the original planned reopening date before lock down though.

    Hi Alex,

Someone apparently in 'the know ' has suggested elsewhere that the line cannot reopen beyond Minehead due to the Seaward Way Level Crossing works being outstanding for S&T works etc rather than the track through it which has already been dealt with.

The WSR PLC board needs to quell speculation on all this.

I also note with much amusement that today's "vintage" bus offering was a 1970's bus - hardly an OWB (Bedford) etc! Not "vintage " in my opinion.

At the risk of introducing some light and shade, and not being ‘snippy’ about everything, a 1970’s bus will seem pretty vintage to a couple in their twenties, given that it is twice as old as they are. And for me, had I been in Somerset this weekend, it would have reminded me of staying in Eastbourne with my grandparents in that decade as a teenager. Vintage comes in a variety of flavours.

Yet replies with a snippy comment.about a the tiny matter of if a bus of all things is vintage or not.

Lord help the WSR it needs all the help it can get with this cast involved.

I'm sure an "un" offical spokesperson will be along shortly to deny it then we find out its in fact true.

But will people believe any WSR PLC Board attempts to quell speculation?
