45562 Alberta seen by the old Midland shed, nearly got caught out setting up so the tripod is not quite level.

 

You nearly had a chance of steamed then grilled rabbit for lunch but he hopped off.

Thanks, Henry. I don't know about "always", but it certainly seemed to be the case today.

 

The Novelty 10 perchance ? or 45667 on the Robin Hood ? or 45652 on the Bradford ? or 45616 on the Palatine ?

 

At least London spotters could see the Holbeck jubilees at St Pancras and 14B, especially before 70053/4 came to Holbeck. Some of the others--- Barrow Road, Corkerhill, Bank Hall, Newton Heath etc --- were just impossible. Was any other class of named locos so widely spread?

 

.... and St Pancras (9E ;55A) before the Peaks arrived. And KX (Cleethorpes)! Can't remember any at Waterloo, but 70009 was there before my time.

But you could see every Brit* without leaving London. No chance with the Jubilees.

* maybe except 70050-2 at Polmadie.

 

I see there is an STP in the system to run back from York to Carnforth scheduled to run tomorrow only, possibly Alberta to run back to Carnforth?

This set of timings were there last week as well, but not used

 

Bit daft to run back tomorrow when it could just stay on the tour back to Carnforth today

 

Possibly because there was nothing at York to use it! (Other than 60163, which had a separate path.)

This path is in RTT every Friday until 25th September, and is obviously there to allow the SSE loco to return to Carnforth. Whether it is used or not I guess will depend on whether Carnforth have need of the loco, or if it needs attention, before next week's SSE.

 

The SSE isn’t showing for next week now on West Coast website.
