Found this on RTT. First sign of timings being put into place for the 8th August's CME??

All the shunt moves for 8 Aug including Carlisle have been there quite a while. It is the main moves which are missing. But the timings for the Waverley, 16 August are now up and look decent so that is good news

Interesting that The Waverley northbound stop is booked at Langwathby, not Appleby. Not sure what the passengers who have chosen to alight at Appleby will do?

RTC saying Tornado not Flying Scotsman for the Waverley on 23rd August. Does this mean the Scotsman is having an extended absence from the mainline to have maintenance done whilst social distancing is in place?

Excellent substitute for Scotsman I think. Nice to see Tornado do a run over the Settle and Carlisle outward and return runs as well.

Absolutely. I'm just wondering if there is a long term issue with the Scotsman that means it won't run for a while. I hope not but it would be disappointing to see it go a whole year without a single revenue earning run on the mainline as there is nothing scheduled for it for the rest of the year especially as it is scheduled for an overhaul in 2022 so it can be in a fit to run state for its 100th anniversary in 2023. Maybe the NRM have pulled the plug on all Scotsman runs until social distancing ends.

No problems with Scotsman according to my source.

Apart from its current location...whereas Tornado is in the right location for a train starting in York.

I thought Tornado would go straight to Scotland from Carnforth. That would have been beneficiary if WCRC provided the stock for the Aberdonian instead of the SRPS as the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway is still closed. Should be good though to see Tornado on the S&C on the 23rd August and then on the Aberdonian past my house on the 3rd and 10th September.

That's good to know. Disappointing though that its next revenue earning mainline run might not be until the early part of next year at the earliest if nothing is scheduled for the rest of this year.

We (SRPS) are still providing the stock for the Aberdonians on the 3rd & 10th September and Tornado will be based with us from the 1st Sept until she heads south on the York-Stirling tour on the 12th!

Tbh, the last engine you'd want on the mainline after lockdown is Scotsman, as social distancing would go right out the window with the amount of people that would be out to see it. Still a shame of course but probably a wise decision.

Fair enough. I just would like to think it will be operating again next year and in the meantime they could carry out maintenance on it.

Let’s hope SRPS are operating their own tours next year with me being on at least one of them.

No significant changes to the old path. 0712 not 0710 start off Euston.

If you're online Ralph, were passengers on the SSE required to wear face masks on the train? A 40 minute train journey on Wednesday with a face mask on wasn't a pleasant experience, especially with one's specs fogging up. Helped us decide to drive to Crewe to avoid 2 hr each masked up journeys on service trains. Not really looking forward to the 3hr 40m return run from Carlisle to Preston. It's also going to be tricky milepost spotting all day too through fogged up lenses.

That’s the main reason why I am not going to book on anything yet. It’s even worse with glasses and a hearing aid. Best of luck Graham
