Looks like everyone's got bored of 46115 already. She's not booked for any tours until one leg of the Great Britain next April. Why so few outings for this fine locomotive?

I think it's because David Smith (46115's owner) says he doesn't want tour operators slogging it to death.

We can't talk not talk about something that's not out n about can we ?

Of course talk on 46115 will have been non existant, but that's due to her owners putting it away for the winter rather than us loosing interest.

If it's only run on WCRC crewed trips then there is no danger of her being slogged to death as he knows all the drivers.
Anyway in the good old days Scots regularly ran with 14/15 coach trains over Shap without bankers and seemed to thrive on the work.

Mr smiths keeping the "exclusivity" factor going, you can guarantee the next trip will sell quickly.

Well ive being at Hellifield since 9:30 this morning, well 46115 was late arriving for some reason then on arrival a Hot box was found and was sat at Hellifield till 5pm before running back to Hellifield.
Someone said it was due to it running a hot box on its previous tour.

I am alone in thinking that the rebuilt Scots are up there with the most handsome locos?

Very pleasant and well framed. Pity about the modern building behind the loco but we can't have everything.

In my youth I remember them being regular performers on the Liverpool -Newcastle expresses.
Double headed with a Jubilee in front over the New Line from Huddersfield to Leeds. It was a hard slog over there and they were a very fine sight and you could hear em from a long way off. The line is long gone.

Second only to a Castle in my opinion, those curved smoke deflectors are the business.

    Nice picture!

Now that we will have two Scots out on the main line in the near future I shall be interested to see their exhausts. Now this might seem to be an odd interest but during the Scots service career they were, we are told, plagued by the exhaust beating down in front on the footplate crew.

Now there is strong photographic evidence that before the smoke deflectors were fitted that this is indeed true, but there are also people who say that this was also true after the blinkers were fitted also. This doesn't accord at all with my recollections or of the evidence of the archive vidoes I have in my library. I shall be interested to see the truth!

I too remember these expresses, they could be pretty amazing. In the early sixties I was at the Saddleworth Brass Band festival in the park at (I'm pretty sure) Uppermill. The railway ran just to the back of the park. It was a horrible dirty night and the hurricane lamp lighting the judge's deliberations in their tent was swinging about. In the midst of the music and the dramatic weather came a Scot and Jubilee going like the clappers up-grade; smoke, steam, cinders, weather and music all combined to make an unforgettable memory.

    Regards
