So, West Coast Railways says that the trip on Tuesday goes up the west coast and back via the S & C whereas real-time trains says the opposite!
Am I correct?

Up the S&C and back via Shap I believe.

 

Looks to me like it’s down the S&C and up the WCML.

 

1 in 100 is Uphill in my book although your terminology of Down is correct.

1z52 reported departed Chester on time, heard LNW got flooding this morning, under investigation

 

And they're off, but what route? 0648 Lancaster-Skipton cancelled due to flooding, and disruption on S and C. Will they go N/B Shap after all?

Edit-- steam move Carnforth to Hellifield now cancelled.

Almost an hour in the loop at Hellifield, masked up and with this temperature and humidity will not have been pleasant.

 

You have to admire WCR for cobbling something together from this, but it doesn't sound great does it.
