If I were to go (persuasion at home may be tricky!), how sure would I be of a Quad Art compartment?

    Oh, I couldn't disagree more ...

It's the second picture that does it for me :) (And the fifth one, with the sea behind).

Weybourne really is a beautifully presented station in that view. And who would ever wish to see a loco in BR livery having seen that GER blue?

It may not be the longest line, but you get amazingly varied and beautiful views along it’s length.

IMG_20200726_142628.jpg I was there too (separate compartment lest we set tongues wagging) and can report she not only looked great but sounded the best I've heard her since before the Y14isation. To answer the question re the quad arts. I think they allocate compartments on arrival starting from the Holt end, which is the quad arts so a high likelihood especially if you join the queue earlyish...The Mk 1 suburban looked good too though. My pic not as good. Was hoping my video out of the window up Kelling bank would be worth posting, but instead of the lovely sounding exhaust my phone just picked up the wind

I have to say that the NNR does fit very well into the classification known as Heritage. It is a while since I was in that part of England but I have good memories of the area.

I was in Norfolk myself Saturday and opted to book a trip, having never been on the Quad Art set. The weather was not so gracious in the afternoon but thoroughly enjoyed seeing 564 again (having done a bit of cleaning on it when it was with us at Tunbridge Wells last year.) A rather odd-looking tail end to the train, with a BSK, Suburban and Quad Art, but it does the job.

I think I like the J15/Y14 even more than the B12...but I reserve the right to change my mind when I next see a photo of said B12

B12 with the Y14 a close second for me. Third place to 76084.

I've been to the NNR about 5 times in my life... 4 of those I have had the J15 / Y14. The other was an LT Pannier... Going back quite a few years.

Just looking at some of the replies on this thread. I can't help but remember a remark a couple of their members passed, back in 1974/75. They were discussing various other lines in the land and "my" line came up [the NYMR], to which one replied:- "They'll never be able to run a line that long [18 miles], far, far to long........." How so completely wrong, especially when you consider the NYMR now run 24 miles from Pickering to Whitby. OK the last 6 are part of Network Rail! Even more wrong when you vector in the likes of the Ffestiniog/Welsh Highland at what 45 miles end to end.

They may have been the same people who wanted to be rid of the B12 and to focus on industrials. They perhaps were slightly envious of how the NYMR was growing compared to the NNR of the early days.

It’s easy to look back and say they were wrong but it’s because of their early efforts that we have the NNR as it is today.

Any news on whether the B12 has had an extension to it’s boiler ticket? Or will it be withdrawn this year?

We won’t know until it’s annual examination, however it’s fully expected that it will be extended unless some unknown things are found.

I have missed it...I fully understand it is probably not the author's top priority at the moment...I have enjoyed his updates on the class 104
