Paid a visit to th sheds this afternoon all is in place and all locos lit and ready, freight will run into station inbetween the service trains, jinty will be on south end and 1370 on northe end, as thats the way they face. John, weather is changeable.
Freight will be at burrs for 0815 and on its approach will "blast" straight through into the cutting, so video men get ready.

As for you industrial haulage fans wait till the saturday night of the feb gala, we "may" have somthing special for you, a clue is in the "may" bit of the statement !!!

Some good efforts there pnemickey. You even got a shot of me!! The photo of the austerity at Ramsbottom has me sitting on the bench eating my ham roll before I headed off to Irwell Vale!

I had the most enjoyable time I've yet had at an East Lancs gala, thanks to some interesting weather. Thanks to those involved for staging an enjoyable event.
My photos can be seen at my fotopic site.

    Regards,

    Paul

May I thank all the photographers who turned up and paid for the standard tank photo runpasts, the sum of £300 was raised today and this was gretaly appreciated by the railway. I hope that everyone got somethimg from the morning, sorry I could not arrange the sun but the crew did a fantastic job. Once again many thanks it makes it possible for us to be able to do this again at future galas.

Had a rather enjoyable day today. The Early morning Photo Charter was very good (and early!). The Duke sounded spot on all day, and double-headed 5s tonight was great, especiallt leaving Summerseat. The echo was fantastic. Think 5231 wins loudest loco competition though as she certainly had a crispness to her exhaust that the others didn't.

BTW, any body find a single wellie at Burrs this afternoon ? :smt043

Well we did get just a glimmer of sun for the last runpast, I've just been looking through my shots and I've managed to get some decent ones. Anyway it was very enjoyable. Can't be there tomorrow morning but I'll certainly be there next time you do it.
Pics will be on my site in the next few days.

    Tim.

I couldn't get to Burrs from 'darn sarf' in time for the freight run pasts but John Robinson's photos have a nice kind of atmosphere about them that I like.

    Hi all,

First off, a very enjoyable day yesterday. I managed to get to Burrs in time for the morning services. I missed the early morning freight with 80098 as my train from Chester was delayed as no conductor had turned up. ](*,)

    Photographs below are as followed:

    1) 80098 and 45407 double heading with the 11.00 from Bury Bolton Street.
    2) 71000 going over Roche viaduct with the 12.25 to Bury Bolton Street. Many thanks to Phil Jones for the lift.
    3) 80098 crossing Brooksbottom viaduct about to enter Brooksbottom tunnel with the 3.00 from Bury Bolton Street.

There will be some videos that I took that I'll put on YouTube in due course.

    Jeff

Another great day, a fantastic performance by 45231 :) Many thanks.
I felt like testing the microphone so climbed to the top of the hills and decided to film in the wind, fantastic performance from the Mic and not a breath of wind was picked up :D.
Tried a few new spots around Irwell Vale and managed to get covered in mud ](*,)

    Anyway videos are now online:

Jeff, your photo of 80098 about to enter Brooksbottom tunnel on the 3:00pm ex Bury suggests we were standing next to each other. I think there were four of us there at the time. My guess is you were the bloke who didn't share his roll with the nosey dog!

    Paul

80098 at Burrs with the last run past, and 45407 at Burrs with the 1400 from Bury.

Comparing photos with mine suggests everyone was standing next to everyone else ;)

the double header of Jeffs looks identical to mine except I clone stamped out the people on the footpath

If your referring to the person wearing his orange hi-vis vest & green fleece then you are right, I was the one with a ham, salad & pickleroll in my bag after the dog had a good sniff inside my bag.
