No, I'm afraid I haven't heard anything since that MRW report. Seems very odd to spend a great deal of money buying steam locos and shipping them over to the US only to do nothing with them, but there we are - FFC isn't the first American to have done that.

Before anyone asks, though, I had a look on Google maps and the Coppola estate seems to be well clear of the current California wildfires, so hopefully they will escape the fate of the unfortunate Swanton Pacific.

If only we could persaude the Statfold Barn team to take an interest in 15" gauge. They seem to have a very good track record in repatriations...:p

The coppola estates have plans and they are happening albeit slowly. I have been in touch with the locomotives caretaker whom. Has been most helpful in providing information and detailed photographic surveys of both locomotives as part of the gigantic locomotive project

Good news. Wish they were back here, but failing that would love to see that they are in action there.
After Gigantic, how about doing Sans Pareil!?!??

One step at a time, gigantic needs to be done first and there's a loose deadline to meet.
With two other class 30s is there a need for a third?

Yes, I think Gigantic will be an achievement enough!
With Synolda and Count Louis both in good hands and operational, we are very blessed for Class 30, there is no need for a Sans Pariel replica.
Although I do have a slight aesthetic preference for he lower cab profile of Sans Pareil. I think Synolda may have also had this originally?
And I think Sans Pareil was a great name, although presumably people would struggle to pronounce it...

All the Bassett lowke class 30s had the lower cab profile originally however subsequent rebuildings raised the boiler up by 1 3/4 inches and the cab profile. Was altered to suit.
