So it's a positioning move really ; Carnforth-- Stirling (or Edinburgh)--York.

The QoS is still on sale, which suggests it is a runner.

I see 40145 journeyed light engine Bury - Crewe today to begin it's 6 month hire to LSL (reported by the CFPS last evening). Looked and sounded good on the Crewe railcams :)

Yes, so I wondered if the steam section may be altered to be from York.

Would almost make more sense to alter the QoS to replicate the Edinburgh Flyer format. Steam both ways York to Edinburgh, still fits well with the outline times but with the near 4 hour break instead in the capital. Perhaps the additional steam miles may sell any remaining tickets?

I think it could be a 10A pool loco to work the Scarborough Spa next week. If so, this is the loco currently at York (45699? or its alter ego) returning to Carnforth on the 28th....

    Cheers, Neil

Post 406 confirms the idea of the two workings being a 10A pool loco changeover. To save steamings and extra non revenue mileage I guess 60163 will work loco & PO Brake Carnforth WCRC - Carlisle on the morning of 12/9/2020.

    Cheers, Neil

Email from the CFPS this morning....

All being well, 40145 is likely to take Green liveried 37667 from Crewe to Barrow Hill later this morning. Departure time from Crewe is expected to be about 08.30 hours.
The likely route is via Stafford, Lichfield, Burton and Derby, with an eta at Barrow Hill about 11.00 hours. After dropping off the class 37 loco, 40145 should leave Barrow Hill about 12.20 hours and head back to Crewe light engine, via the same route.

As always, the timings and route may change subject to operational circumstances on the day.

    Thanks for that.

I've forwarded your post to uk-rail.group and so I'm sure that the diesel boys will be out to see them.

The light engines are at present 12 mins early approaching Burton. <BJ>

No times available as yet for the transfer of locos and stock to Bristol for Sundays Royal Duchy. It's rather unusual to be so late. <BJ>

What? The locos and stock have to move to Bristol at some point. The times of the actual charter are available. <BJ>

Discussion of today's positioning moves of Black 5, 47s and stock for tomorrow's Royal Duchy is on the Royal Duchy thread.

Thanks for the photo. Here is my effort of the cavalcade passing Wharton Court, south of Leominster. Sun went in at the critical moment... Wharton-2020-08-29-44871+-1012122.jpg

Anyone know why she relocated to Southall after the railtour - is it just preparation for any possible Christmas tours or are there some London based tours coming soon?
