Did you have to say that? The mere mention of Bourbon biscuits brings a shiver to my spine and nightmare flashbacks. The mini packets of Naafi Bourbon biscuits were the staple content of the ration boxes dished out to the self-loading freight travelling on the Hercules. Left a scar on my memory they did... them and Naafi custard creams. Should have been banned under the Geneva Convention.

    Nurse!!!. my meds please.

Surely a conspiracy too far. Boards have collective responsibility, which must include on-the-record statements (i.e. on headed documents). If the fact that statements are coming out signed by someone other than the chairman is a sign that the board have more defined roles with Mr Williams taking the lead on communications, then that is to be welcomed in my view.

I note "Both parties have worked hard to bring this matter to a successful conclusion". I thought the WSRA had made several offers some time back, one of which was that if the PLC paid them the money that is owed they would then loan it back the PLC. What hard work was needed for the PLC to agree to that? The only thing that comes to mind is that they may have had to scratch round to discover what of their property wasn't already serving as security for a bank loan.

There's a fixed and floating charge, many businesses have them. It doesn't preclude other loans, as the finance arrangement on the loco showed. The bank just need to be generally satisfied they have sufficient security for their loans and overdraft. It might theoretically affect the overdraft limit or rate, but presumably the bank and PLC board are OK with their respective positions.

More generally, the PLC board is seemingly taking welcome steps to close off a number of areas of dispute that have <cough> arisen and distracted from the bigger picture.

    Now, about that lease... :-D

Taking my glass half full attitude, I observe that there has been a discussion, and there has been an agreement, and there is an announcement of a successful conclusion. In the context of the state of play not so long ago, that is important progress.

    Interesting first post.

Firstly, I can see nothing derogatory in Tom's post. Perhaps you can let us all know what you find so offensive?

Secondly, Tom is not a moderator.
