My annual musical montage of Northwest Steam activity can now be viewed at:

2007 was a pretty good year for Mainline steam in the Northwest, and again in 2008 we were spoiled by what was on offer. Whilst 4771 Green Arrow made a dignified farewell in the early part of the year, 2008 saw 46115 Scots Guardsman, 70013 Oliver Cromwell, and 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley return to the mainline after protracted absences.

August 11th saw 1T57 commemorated, with 70013 stealing the show (just a shame about the weather). The Dalesman schedule was the most ambitious yet, and trains seemed generally well filled. Shap was quieter, but still 6233 and 6201 tackled it at points in the year. The Cotton Mill Express got into its stride and became one of the year's best achievements, with well filled trains regularly taking on Miles Platting, Diggle, Copy Pit and Sough. The KWVR enjoyed its 40 year of operation, with the winter gala enjoying exceptional weather.

What can be said, what fabulous coverage and an excellent sound track as well, I assume written and performed by yourself....

That's absolutely brilliant thanks for taking the time and effort to produce it. =D>

Viewed 30+ times and only 2 comments, I bet you wonder why you bother sometimes.

Thanks very much Ralph, that's very kind of you - a good year by all accounts. And yes, music written and performed by me (new Spanish guitar for Christmas pressed into service \:D/)

Thanks very much and you're very welcome. Can't grumble about only 3 comments - as long as I don't get any abuse (a random Blackburn Rovers fan decided to attack one of my videos recently for some reason... 8-[) and some people take the time to comment, it's worthwhile :)

Thanks Mark. Well done with yours too - I like how you've kept the train soundtracks in, and have something on the whole railway scene. Keep up the good work.

Cheers yeah,i think a lot of people just look but won't comment on here,it seems to be different elsewhere but hey! I try my best but i need a better camera really,i don't usually keep the soundtrack in but i have to admit it does look/sound better!

    Cheers,
    Mark

    fantastic video

looking foward now to 2009`s effort !

    John

    PS
as for the last clip of SG rushing through Hellifield heading North and the signal on the right.
We were well entered yesterday waiting for SG to arrive from Carnforth by 3 network rail chaps cutting approx 3ft of the top of the signal and rebuilding it- it was apparently rotten.

So when are you going to release the guitar CD.? Can I apply for the post of your manager, and I'll also put in a word for you with Pete Waterman..........

Many thanks John - let's hope 2009 is as good! Thanks for the info about that signal too - seems I caught it just before it got its top lopped! :(

Haha thanks Ralph - I'll accept! Pete could be the perfect bridge for a budding steam railway guitarist ;), as long as he doesn't have ideas about a Rick Astley mark 2 ;-)
