    How would that be accomplished?
You will not be allowed any access into a working scrapyard unless you are delivering a load of material.
At least that is the practice in the yards we use.
They also require photo ID and do not pay in cash at all.

Alsager East frame is secure and was not part of the items taken.

Please read the CVR press releases fully, the theft has now been reported and is being dealt with accordingly.

Yep as we have certain powers to enforce some action regarding trespass.
As said, the wording was carefully chosen and following subsequent discussion with Staffs Moorlands Police we are now working together on this.

Glad to hear that you are working with the police and I hope that there is a better resolution.

Noted. Sadly, in two* different places I've encountered posters who have inferred the words chosen to refer to community groups. IMO the CVR should have avoided using them and taken up its concerns with Staffs Moorlands Police direct to reach the point you are now working together on this.

    EDIT: now three

    +1

The CVR had previously taken up its concerns with Staffs Police but without any satisfaction, and now another theft has occurred. The CVR highlighted its frustration and it has served a purpose because the police are now showing some interest. The trail may have gone cold but there’s still a chance an honest scrapyard will recognise the items.

My last word on it. The CVR's self-professed carefully chosen words highlighting its frustrations have caused people on multiple forums to infer it's the act of certain community members and racial slurs including on their own official social media account. The original statement remains accessible. They should not have done it. They should remove it. Not doing so reflects very badly. They should have expressed their frustrations differently. The laudable outcome of the CVR now working with the police could never justify the means. End of.

The CVR has not specified any group of people based upon their background anywhere in public.

And we cannot moderate free speech, even if certain members of society choose to abuse this to spread narrow-minded views. Social Media is a double-edged sword, it can be used for a variety of good but equally is open to abuse as some gain a power of almighty from behind their keyboards. You just need to condone such incidents when appropriate, and even ignore them in order to avoid giving them the attention they crave. If the postings are that offensive they can be reported, but as multiple social media platforms have proved time and time again they are very much hit/miss in fully dealing with this unless pressured to do so.

I've just received a very informative "Thank You" Email from the CVR outlining what they will be doing with the money donated for the S& T replacement fund. It is very nice to be kept in the loop - communication is so important!

Yes. A nice touch and just the sort of thing which helps make people more likely to donate again.

I think Jon Jon has been busy today sending out these thank yous. Will only encourage people to support the CVR in future.

I'm always busy... Even had a conference call about grant applications, and been organising SEO improvements for online membership. Oh and something called work has seen me designing SIN119 installations for Carlisle station.

Post on CVR Facebook page regarding their efforts to fix 5197 after it developed a fault: https://www.facebook.com/churnetvalleyrailway/posts/3554309077

Wadebridge, 419, now this - the CVR seem to have a habit of being able to get something back in service quickly! Not to mention the impressively quick restoration of 2944 a few years ago.

And that was only last week's fault...

Back in 2010, 5199 we withdrew for an intermediate overhaul on 20 July following failure on her insurance exam due to wasted foundation ring rivets.
The boiler was lifted from the frames 30 July, repaired and then returned to the frames 2 November with her pulling a train on 14 November during the MCR gala. Oh and during that time the same team also assisted with the clearance work to the Cauldon Branch...

A number of locos we've had onsite have suffered short notice failures over the years for varying reasons. It kind of goes with the territory in operating heritage machinery. However we do advertise a steam service wherever we can, and do our best to provide this. We're lucky to have such a dedicated engineering team behind the scenes to keep us going, and as we're used to only having 1x operational loco on site a time we're used to ensuring that it's fit for service.

PWay have been doing bits and pieces recently while we wait for lifting equipment to get the second turnout installed at Froghall. The long sleepers for this turnout are now in place and have been levelled. The loop at Ipstones has been ballasted and tamped but that meant we spent a day getting the ballast back where it should be. Today one team was ballasting the Froghall siding where it crosses the river (5 tons moved by hand on a Pway trolley) so that we can do some jacking and packing while the other was inspecting the track in the Froghall loop

So much going on since I last spoke..!

Today has seen a start made on installing palisade fencing at Leekbrook Severn Trent crossing in the first stage of trying to reduce trespass.

Restoration of E3809 continues, it is still the target to have this vehicle available for Santas
    https://www.facebook.com/nsrc1978/

Speaking of which, tickets have gone on sale for our revamped Santa & Steam specials
    https://santaandsteam.co.uk/

S&T have installed a dummy location at Cheddleton to aid with training, installed a further location case at Froghall to house equipment for point indicators and started installing the Power supply for Phase 1 signalling scheme at Cheddleton

Breakfast Train tickets now live, book fast as they are selling out like Oatcakes!

Improvements to the NSRC Membership Form to aid SEO. Also continuation on drafting the new NSRC website, which I really want to be live asap.
    https://membership-form.nsrailway.co.uk/

And I'm sure a few other things I've forgotten about for the moment.
