Heading north through Brock in the evening rain, the freight train blocked the view after this shot...

Not a day for the faint hearted, 'Princess Elizabeth' brightening the scene at Greenholme despite the rain and wind with Steve Chipperfield driving, Clive Gault
on the shovel and Roly Parker Guard

    NB Lizzie 4b.jpg

With no let up in the wind or rain No. 6201 'Princess Elizabeth' whistles its way through Garsdale with Chris Cubitt driving and Chris Holmes firing. The Clough
River showing the amount of water put down recently

Great to see this one running. Would be very interesting to know the economics of this, with 6 out of the 13 coaches non revenue-earning (support coach, brake, 2 sleepers, 2 kitchen cars) plus the affects of social distancing with probably no more than 30 max in each coach, and the cost of the crewed diesel on the back. I guess the fact that it's all an in-house WCRC operation is critical? Kudos to them for running it anyway.

That's some load on the hook, 13 plus 47, equivalent to what, 15/16?

Many thanks to all of those who ventured out today in such terrible weather conditions to bring the rest of us such an excellent selection of stills and videos, 6201 looked and sounded great.

Really good to see 6201 hurrying along in this and the other videos and it was also good to see a sensible balance being struck between what the loco could reasonably do with that load and the level of rear end support it was getting.

WE were close together at Shap - think I could see your umbrella over the wall - I had intended to go to Ais Gill as well but with the weather getting worse and a drive back down the M6 to do decided against it. Certainly looked grim weather there - well done for persevering

The lads on the footplate certainly had 'Lizzie' singing today, can't say I was any drier at Garsdale Nige

Those were the days. Con-trails in the sky from airliners taking folks away on their hols.

    I remember that.

    True nostalgia. :)
