As I remember it 53808 was invited to exhibit at the Bath Road open day. In doing so the charges of hauling the loco from Barry to Radstock via Gloucester and Westbury were waived.

After the open day the loco visited St.Philip's Marsh for remedial work to be carried out before it continued it's journey to Radstock. <BJ>

 

53808 looked superb at the MHR on Friday when I visited. A credit to the folk at the WSR who have cared for her over the many years.

It was good to see a 7F hauling southern green stock once again.

5 coaches over the 1 in 60 'Alps' ....piece of cake. <BJ>

That depends upon how you define 'Southern' England Woody Bay is much higher up....

We are going off topic again, but it would be rather interesting the day we see 53808 enter Woody Bay...

Unfortunately, due to my hypertension, that joined (Oh! So delicious) salt liquorice on an extensive 'forbidden' list, many moons ago, adherence to which may (or may not) not lead to my living any longer, but t'will bl--dy well feel like it!

 

But where do we define ‘the south’?

 

According to my geography teachers, anywhere south and east of a line from the Humber to the Exe estuary. Meaning that the Medstead claim remains valid!

I missed "Standard Gauge" off my post

 

But only as an operational station. For example Masbury station was 811' above sea level and it still exists, albeit without trains, unlike Princeton.
