OK, but there are other places that could have been offered instead, such as Skipton. It wouldn't be the first time that a pick-up originally advertised was changed; and a later start from Chesterfield and Sheffield could have attracted more bookings from those places.

Wakefield K, Brighouse and Blackburn are all pick ups. That's quite possibly half the bookings.

Having had a look at the Tier 3 travel restrictions on the government website I am not sure tour passengers from a Tier 3 area would meet the criteria to visit a Tier 1 or 2 location. It may of course not be the reason, or maybe WCRC have decided it before any "formal intervention", but with different Tier levels dotted around the country it could make tours difficult going forward that cross many boundaries. Plus based on some of the members of other rail websites whose views on laws seems
to be "I will only follow the ones that suit me" then even pick ups in a non Tier 3 area may collect passengers from Tier 3 areas ignoring the travel advice. All very confusing perhaps.

WCRC are to be congratulated for managing to run anything at all that stays within the law and (presumably) pays its way. If I were a railtour promoter I would have given up.

If you live in Tier 3 I can't understand how, given the Government's rules, that you can go on this train. Similarly, how many Tier 3 residents are going to venture against the rules into Tier 2 to photograph it?

If you're not getting off the train, maybe your destination is the same as your origin.

Agreed, in the case of say Blackburn, but the rules say you shouldn't travel in the first place if you live in Tier 3. I wouldn't be surprised if the Tier 3 pick ups are dropped.
If you are already on the train having boarded in Tier 2 do you want a boarding later Tier 3 person with you?
We are Tier 3, I should have been hiking in Devon this week, half term for the wife, but both of the hotels rang me on Thursday cancelling my reservations and offering to rebook, which we have for next Easter. They didn't want us!!

If you live in Tier 3 you are advised not to travel unnecessarily, but the legislation does not prevent you from doing so, and there are no restrictions within England on either distance or destination.

I suppose it's what your interpretation and personal definition of "not to travel unnecessarily" is, down to your own conscience at the end of the day.

It is down to personal responsibility I guess but that should be removed. The public have proved to be untrustworthy on adhering to restrictions.

Imo the tour should not be picking passengers up in any tier 3 area & I find it irresponsible of the tour organisers to do so publicly defying government advice.

If I was a passenger how would you feel about sharing a coach with tier 3 passengers. I wouldn't be happy!

I would hazard a guess that there would be a pretty good chance the people on such charters would be responsible though. Just because you are in a tier 3 area doesn't mean that you are not being careful.

I agree completely that it's a hard one to call but stopping everything has consequences, many of which are just not good for humans.

Don't get me wrong I'm not unsympathetic to the cause. I don't doubt there are many people adhering to the guide lines but in principal, advertising a railtour picking up people from a tier 3 area to take them out of the county is imo a blatant & unnecessary infringement of the albeit woolly guidelines.
