Any idea when we might get some new updates on the various MHR Blogs?
I know there was a Carriage update and an Infrastructure recently.
Or has nothing acccured during Covid, which I could understand as we have been shut out for 7 months ourselves.

My copy arrived on Tuesday but my Dad's issue didn't arrive until today. We both live at the same address. We are both "s". Not sure what happened there.

Yes i am missing the blogs too. However the various MHR related Facebook groups, give very up to date info about what goes on at the MHR, much of which was formerly covered in some of the blogs and of course members of the Wagon team keep us up to date with goings on at Medstead.

Not everyone wants to use Facebook. If these blogs aren’t put on to the MHR web site there will be people that won’t get to read these updates.

I'd argue in a time of covid and lockdown the blogs are even more important in connecting people as to what is going on and where things. We can't get down to Ropley and see how things are going in the carriage shop or in the workshops. So pretty please, could the blogs be updated.

Also, given the lockdown, what does this mean for the train of lights?

On the flip side of this point, not everyone wants to use the blogs, or this forum, other forms of communication may be their preferred format.
You could expand your point to say... Please add it to:
Nat Pres, UK Rail Forum, FB, Istagram, Twitter, SnapChat, TikTok, MySpace, Tumblr, Flickr, ad infinitum.
I suspect that it's far easier for those who have the information to add a post onto FB, than to submit it to whoever has the publishing rights on the website (if they are even back at work yet).

If they must use Facebook, which I do not, then can they make viewing it public?

The point I’m making is. If you don’t use blogs on the main web site about what’s happening within groups you could be missing a bigger audience. Putting blogs out to the biggest audience possible may increase the chance someone will donate money towards an on going restoration project.

But a blog posted on the MHR website can be shared on FB, Twitter, here etc. The website is the hub and social media the spokes from it.

Someone must have the publishing rights because there has been stuff published over lockdown etc.

MHR website has been updated with this information today:

"FOLLOWING THE PRIME MINISTER'S ANNOUNCEMENT ON 31ST OCTOBER, WE ARE ANTICIPATING THAT WE WILL BE UNABLE TO RUN OUR PLANNED SERVICES IN NOVEMBER. AS SOON AS THE FULL GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE IS MADE CLEAR TO US, WE WILL BE CONTACTING ALL CUSTOMERS AFFECTED BY THE ANNOUNCEMENT TO EXPLAIN THE OPTIONS AVAILABLE. THANK YOU FOR BEARING WITH US DURING THIS TIME."

Online booking facility has also been removed for all Christmas events.

I don't disagree. I'm sure in a normal world, every effort would be made to update the blogs as well as other social media.
But we're not in a normal world, and I'm sure the Mid Hants is no different to everyone else (not just heritage railways), trying to do the best they can on limited staff and resources.

To be fair though, a website is the customer facing shopfront...
"This is when we are open" "These are the costs" "These are the special events" "Click here to book..." etc.
Whereas the individual group social media is more where you'd expect group members and enthusiasts to look for up to the minute info on the group they are interested in. Curated blog posts are always going to lag behind because something like FB can be updated from your phone including photos, in seconds, whereas to update a blog you have to download photos, submit the article, the article has to be reviewed and published etc.

I think that covid is going to be seen as a further driver accelerating the move away from the centralised corporate model in this respect.

I respect that some people don't like FB. Personally, I can't see the appeal of Twitter and wouldn't be caught dead on TikTok.
But equally I respect that some people have these as their platforms of choice, and I don't feel it's my place or right to try to impose my "wants" on them.

Sometimes I really think that we hardy souls atop the hill need our heads testing! :Saywhat:

The weather there in the morning was atrocious, with rivers running between the sidings & the wind getting up - atop the hill, there is no respite! But then from about 1-2pm we had bright sunshine, but with a biting wind - all thanks to storm whatsisname blowing through.......

Stil, that didn't stop us having some fun with the gunpowder van - no Sireee!!! :):):)

Some more roof hoops have been installed, with the center one putting up a major fight, due to the way the roof has reshaped itself.amyway, with a lot of swearing & fettling, its now in!

Also, the two doors on the north side have been trial fitted, along with some ironmongery to make sure things fitted, and when home - which they did & 1st time too! :)

It was also nice to see the service trains well patronised at the neck end of a truncated season.
