Here is a funny idea I have thought up to cheer people up in lockdown. I had some mincer that was from quorn. They could sponsor you and buy some paint but you may have to do it up as a vegetarian wagon!

Rather odd from the photos that the place seems to be devoid of any GCR owned carriages in the workshops and nothing from RVP either (the TTO was sheeted up outside yet again when I passed on the train at the end of September).

Quorn Wagon & Wagon is mostly made up of RVP members
So all of the vehicles apart from the Mineral are owned by and worked on by RVP members.
There is a van containing RVP spares that has no doors so that can't go outside.
999503 which is GCR owned is in the paint shop.

There has also been no RVP members working on the TTO since March. Are you saying that RVP members who wish to work on other vehicles should cease doing so, so a vehicle that no one has asked to work on since March can go inside and the spares van containing RVP spares, including components from the TTO, that has no doors should be placed out side to be robbed?

If the coach requires to be stored inside until someone wishes to work on it then that is what the Shed at Swithland was built for.

I'm aware that there is an overlap between QW&W and RVP in terms of workers, but I was under the impression that one of the three roads in the shed was nominally allocated to RVP for working on their carriages - or at least that is what I was told a few years back.
My interest in the TTO is due to the rather significant amount of money that I have been involved in donating towards its restoration over the past 7 years...........

Thats the key statement "Working" on their vehicles. No one from RVP has worked on the TTO since before the first lock down.
In the time RVP have not been on site a Mineral has been completed, a second significantly progressed the restoration of a brakevan almost completed.

If they are not attending site why should others not be given the oppertunity to make progress on there projects?
Its one for the RVP board and GCR management to discuss. I just want to contiune make progress on wagons and our Mess Coach which thankfully we are.

You should question RVP, Why is no one working on a vehicle which has recieved/ is recieving significant donations?

Frankly, I don't blame you for using the facilities if they are available, given the somewhat variable weather conditions you work in outside in Quorn yard. In view of the progress you have made over the past few years and what your group have added to the GCR "experience" in that time, I'ts a shame you dont have a covered workshop for your sole use available 365 days a year....

The lack of progress on the TTO has been somewhat a jarring note over the past number of years, so after an initial insertion of money between 2013 and 2015, I stopped "topping up" the initial largish donation (which they could claim Gift Aid on at that time). They recieved a large bequest last year but that was likely to be the last donation to them that I'm going to be involved with, until I have ridden in the finished article on the GCR.....

@Mattie Bee Thank you for the photos, they really clear up how the system works and where the pipes disappear too !

Re the TTO and RVP. I believe that most of the working members on this were over 70 and so "vulnerable" and subject to more strict C-19 restrictions/advice. So their absence is more understandable.
It therefore makes sense to use the space productively as Mattie B has outlined. I know that the paint bay has had a steady throughput of GCR coaches and I believe that the regular stock is up to date with exams/maintenance etc.....and obviously they are not having too much use at present.

    As Ross has stated, Bauxite.
It was built vaccum fitted although only retains a through pipe.
