Noted that 45212 left without the Mk2 rake on Sunday - anything to read into that?!

The latest plan I had been told of is for 45407 and 44871 to come South with two POB's, GUV and afternoon rake on Sunday 15th November with one diesel.
Second diesel brings the morning rake to Carnforth on Monday 16th.

So despite a trip to Inverness the second day I was in the Highlands with the intention of getting a new camera... (what a hit to the bank that would’ve been!), it turned out that two days sat in a bag of rice did wonders and I was able to continue chasing for another four days.

Compilation from an autumnal week in the Highlands

Glad it worked out for you and the camera recovered!

Thanks for the contributions everyone. Nearing the end of a damp week in the West Highlands, but it has been wonderful as always. Can't say I'm looking forward to returning South and reconnecting with reality..

I'd stay there, far too depressing back in England and at least you can have a pint in the pub again in Fort William :)

As John says the long planned marina is finally being built. If you look further back up the train you can see the work already been done on the extended car park area.

It looks like the Jacobite is now finishing this Friday now (6th November).

Will the Fives be returning via Loch Dun?

I think a massive thanks should go to everyone involved in the running of the train. You should be proud in your achievement in these troubled times.Brilliant effort.

Agree wholeheartedly. I hope @J Shuttleworth passes on thanks to everyone associated with The Jacobite for bringing a little bit of brightness to an otherwise dark period and that's just from someone who never went near the train but saw the images and the videos captured by others for the benefit of all.

    Well done x 100.

I most certainly will! The team has worked hard.

It has been a strange season. - missing the first three months and being the subject of a degree of opposition from a certain Scottish MP. The local businesses felt rather differently and the passenger demand speaks for itself through the extended season. I might add that I only managed one day in the Highlands, this year, which was very frustrating!

    Roll on 2021!

I nearly didn’t go but pleased I did, good to see some of the old faces, or part of them. Florence with her fancy silk face covering looked like a Mexican bandit!
I was talking to a family staying in the same hotel as me who told me the Jacobite trip was the best day out this year. They want to go again as the whole time at Mallaig was spent in the queue for the Harry Potter shop!
